Bachelor of Arts [B.A] (Government & Public Service: Government, Law & Justice Emphasis)
Field of Study:
$41,000 /Yr
Focus on United States law, law enforcement and the justice system. American judicial process and constitutional law are emphasized in core courses, and students may also choose from a variety of electives emphasizing law enforcement, the administration of justice, international law, political and constitutional philosophy, national security and intelligence. This is one of the most targeted and least flexible specializations within the GPSV program, but if you are interested in becoming a lawyer of judge, this is the one for you.The obvious career target for this specialization is law school, but other paths are also possible. Careers in law enforcement, international trade and trade law, immigration, and victim or citizen advocacy can begin here. Undergraduate training in the law can also lead to specialized research and advanced studies toward an MA or PhD.
The knowledge of oral, writing, and argumentative skills, judicial and justice systems, U.S. Constitution, federalism, and immigration policy, gained from a major in Government and Public Service with a concentration in Government, Law, and Justice, provides graduates a solid career foundation. Graduates are well prepared to work in law enforcement, immigration service and enforcement, judicial and justice systems, correctional and public services, and public administration and safety. This major is also excellent preparation for law school or graduate studies in public administration, or business administration.
Classes cover a variety of subjects which develop useful skills like teaching students to speak, write, and argue effectively. Additionally, the Government and Public Service program at UA South teaches students how to research efficiently and effectively, analyze data accurately, think critically about implications, and draw conclusions that will lead to new knowledge as well as practical solutions for the modern world. Classes are available for this degree in a variety of locations for a traditional classroom setting as well as online classes for increased flexibility.
