What students say about University of Central Florida

  • Industrial exposure does not meet my expectations, with the location playing a significant role in this. However, you must abide by certain rules when structuring your course plan.
  • A lot of faculty members know many resources and can help you find a paid one if you really need the stipend.
  • The field of Computer Vision offers a plethora of research opportunities, and the MSCV program at UCF provides an excellent platform to explore them.
  • The selection process is highly competitive and is based on our Bachelors results as well as GRE and TOEFL scores.
  • They have the best campus in Florida, or maybe even in the US, and they provide a lot of activities on campus such as kayaking, tower climbing, challenge courses, etc.
  • Ive lived off-campus near UCF. Tivoli Apartments in Orlando are a popular housing option for students attending the University of Central Florida (UCF).
  • There are lots of other charges since there are so many other offered services, like an on-campus shuttle and gym.
  • Dr. Niels Lobo was the one who guided me into the world of research, and it was an amazing experience.
  • My specialization is Data Analysis, for which I have valuable subjects to choose from.

I did not do interviews. Documents required were ACT/SAT scores. I had 3 LORs Good school, good program, great campus, great location, only 2 hours by car from my house Experience was amazing. The professors and heavy workload really helped me prepare for law school. I also learned how to think critically and write analytically

It's been a tremendous journey at UCF for me. I'm really grateful to have joined UCF for my Masters in Computer Science. My specialization is Data Analysis - for which I have good valuable subjects to choose from. The courses can be accessed on the internet directly. There's also a decent Indian community here which would have you involved for several cultural events during festivals or other occasions.

  • Dislikes:
  • While the MSCV program at UCF has many advantages, there are also a few potential disadvantages to consider. Competitiveness: Due to its reputation and quality, the program may attract a large number of highly qualified applicants, making the admissions process highly competitive. Workload: The coursework and research requirements of the program can be demanding, requiring a significant time commitment and dedication. Balancing coursework, research projects, and personal commitments can be challenging.

It is amazing experience getting to know new people collaborating with new friends on projects is overall fun.

  • Dislikes:
  • The courses are more aligned towards the Research side and focus less on the tools and technologies used in the industry such as Apache Kafka, Spring Boot, DevOps tools, etc.,
  • There are no co-op opportunities affiliated with the University of Central Florida such as the one at Northeastern University in Boston.

My overall experience at UCF was great. UCF is a research university and hence has a rich variety of opportunities for students who want to excel in the field of Computer Science, especially in the field of Computer Vision. The main point of contact for Computer Vision candidates is Dr. Mubarak Shah.

  • Dislikes:
  • Large Class Sizes: One common complaint among students at UCF is the large class sizes, especially in introductory courses. With a large student population, some classes can be overcrowded, making it challenging for students to engage with professors and receive individualized attention. This can hinder the learning experience and lead to a sense of disconnection for some students.,
  • Limited Parking: UCF's parking situation is often a source of frustration for students. The university's rapid growth has resulted in a shortage of parking spaces, leading to difficulties finding a spot, especially during peak hours. This inconvenience can cause stress and delays for students trying to get to class or campus activities.,
  • Lack of Campus Traditions: While UCF offers a vibrant campus environment, some students feel that the university lacks strong and established campus traditions. Compared to some older and more established institutions, UCF's relatively young age means that it may not have as many longstanding traditions and cultural events that students can participate in and feel connected to. This can lead to a sense of disconnect and a longing for more established university traditions.

UCF is widely recognized for its academic excellence, diverse campus community, and vibrant student life. Students often appreciate the range of academic programs, research opportunities, and the supportive learning environment offered by UCF.

  • Dislikes:
  • Nothing in particular to be honest, I think they are doing a great job of providing A one quality of education along with resources. I would say they can try and provide more resources for international students.

It has been great, I met some great professors who have been greatly involved in teaching and have been very helpful to all the students.

Only two hours away from home, has a good CSD program. I had to pay a little fee to apply here, but it wasn't a lot! I also applied USF and gained admission, but ultimately chose UCF! I am very happy with my decision, especially after being here for a year and a half! The CSD program has welcomed me and I feel confident in my ability to thrive here.

It wasn't too far from home but far enough and was not nearly expensive as a private school. The application fee was not bad and it was my top choice school so I was committed to getting in. I applied to five colleges and got into four. I was a straight-A student in high school but my SAT score was 1160.

I completed a bachelor's degree(mathematics Hons) with a 3.93/4 GPA from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in 2015. After that, I wanted to get into higher studies because I wanted to secure an academic position in a university. I applied to a few other USA universities including (UCF) and got the admission, tuition scholarship and teaching assistant position from almost all of them. I have heard about those universities through some senior Sri Lankan students who were studying there. The first reason to choose UCF is that I love hot weather and hate snow, so Florida is my best choice. Then as an institution, UCF is the largest University in the USA with great facilities for international students. Communication is really efficient. As an international student, I had to send many emails back and forth and got replies very fast. Since I got quick replies it was easy to deal with the visa process in advance. Also compared to other USA institutions application fee is cheaper.

I chose the University of Central Florida mostly out of convenience. The school has a direct connect program that made it easy to transfer my Valencia credits to the state school. I also live in the area.
