Required Exams for Admission
UConn provides quality academic and research opportunities and several recreational activities to help students maintain their physical and mental health.
Course Curriculum
It was not very difficult to follow as the coursework was closely related to my Grad syllabus. You can also take courses that are not part of the core requirements and also from other departments if you are interested.
Faculty
There are several high achieving faculty in the department who has done big work in Bayesian statistics like Prof. Dipak Dey and also several others who is doing great work in Time series analysis, Machine Learning and many other area of research.
Campus Life
You can try out several outdoor activities to like Hiking, Skydiving, Rock climbing etc as a part of the university recreation clubs. Also Wifi, sports facilities, gym and game room can be accessed by all students and you can use the high performance computing if you need to run several programs that will take time.
Placement
Several placement opportunities will be provided by the department from companies like Pfizer, Travelers, Liberty Mutual and many others. Also there is Centre for Career development who will help you prepare for job interviews and post available opportunities on UConn handshake.
Accommodation
There are several accommodations in various price range around campus. Some have public transportation facilities and some do not. It would cost $800-1100 each month including utilities depending on where you live.
Exams
My program requires GRE and TOEFL/IELTS. My scores in GRE is 315 and TOEFL is 108. SOP and LOR was required. In SOP make sure to mention why you want to do the particular program and if you have any project/thesis ideas you would like to explore.
Fees
$20,000 per semester/ $160,000 for 4 years.
