Decent curriculum, Proximity to bay area, low tuition fees, great weather
Course Curriculum :
The curriculum is decent, some subjects are really heavy, and require hrs of efforts to complete assignments. Others you can breeze through. So a good mix of courses will keep you engaged and also stress free.
Exams :
My Scores: GRE 150 Verbal 160 Quants 4.5 Writing IELTS: 8.5 Reading 6.5 writing 7.5 listening 7.5 speaking
Placement :
There are probably more jobs in bay area than India. So, opportunities are abundant, just the competition is intense as well. Median salary in a bay area company would be around 130000 base pay + benefits. There is no concept of campus placement, you have to apply and companies will reach out if the profile matches.
Internship :
I had a data science internship. There were 2 rounds of interviews, and the stipend was 5000 for 3 months each
Fees :
Total amount on I20 Is around $39000, of which 16000 would be tuition and 21000 would be living expense and insurance
Scholarship :
No. SJSU does not offer scholarships to international students.
Faculty :
Faculty to student is very low 16-17:1. Staff and faculty is very helpful with everything. Dr. Suneuy Kim, is a very good professor. I ended up doing a masters thesis under her. She has a good command over the subject and teaches well.
Campus Life :
There are plenty. But something like baseball or football( rugby outside US) might come across as boring to Indian students. The university has a state of the art library and athletics club with rock climbing, boxing and yoga session which I utilized and enjoyed to the fullest.
Hostel :
Everybody goes for accomodation outside the university, which is cheaper. The university also gives access to pantry where students can get milk, oil, groceries fruits etc for free, which helps to Mitigate the costs
