Athena's UC Riverside Review

A
8.7 /10

Good school, a new environment and it had the major I wanted. I also wanted to choose a school far away from home so I know what it's like to handle independence.

Course Curriculum :

I enjoy the classes I take and the professors are always thorough with their teachings. there?s a wide variety of classes to choose from so I can explore new topics while still revolving around anthropology.

Exams :

SAT with a score of 1240, ACT with a score of 27, the MAE, AP English Language and Composition with a score of 3, AP United States World History with a score of 2, AP Statistics with a score of 2.

Placement :

The job opportunities in Riverside are easily accessible and understanding of a college student?s busy schedule. There are also plenty of places to learn how to formulate a resume and how to become a good interviewee.

Internship :

My college did not grant me any financial aid, but I know there are many scholarships and internships that are available for me to take on, either during the school year or the summer. They are also diverse so the internships are curated for every type of major.

Events :

We celebrate national holidays which means we get the days off, and we also have school spirit days where we have rallies and such. other events are hosted by Panhellenic fraternities and sororities in order to fundraise.

Fees :

The out of state tuition is obviously higher than the in-state tuition. Fortunately, I live in a state so the cost of going to UC Riverside is way less. Some students are granted financial aid and/or grants through FAFSA that lower the cost of their residency or tuition.

Scholarship :

No, I have not, but some of my friends have and they had to apply through FAFSA for financial aid. For scholarships, my friends wrote essays to try to win a monetary prize that would go toward their college expenses.

Examination Structure :

Since we are on the quarter system, we have midterms during weeks 4-5 and then finals during weeks 10-11. It is fast paced but every teacher has a different way of conducting exams. some do not even have a final exam and they just conduct 3 midterms.

Faculty :

They always offer office hours and truly believe in wanting to help their students achieve higher goals. They brief their TA's on what to go over in discussion so the students aren't left in the dark about what will be on the exam.

Hostel :

I loved living in the dorms because it gave me a chance to get to know my peers, make new friends, and conveniently have the dining hall just downstairs. However, I did not enjoy the communal showers and toilets because I felt like there was less privacy.
