Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science offers admission to PhD under Medical, Dental, Pharmacy, and Indian Systems of Medicine including Homeopathy, and Nursing Faculties. Only candidates who have obtained a Master’s Degree in the concerned subject under various faculties of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences or a PG degree considered, as equivalent by this University are eligible for enrolment for Ph.D. Course in this University. Seats are reserved for people belonging to different categories such as SC/ST/BC etc. of the state of Karnataka. Admission to the program is based on Entrance exam and Interview conducted by the University

Candidates can register for admission to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences by filling in the online application form and submitting the application (in person/by post) along with the required processing fee, on or before the last date. Admission to the Ph.D. programs is granted based on the interview held by the Selection Committee.

RGUHS Ph.D. Eligibility Criteria

Candidates with MD/MS, MRCP/FRCS (granted in UK on or before November 11, 1975, as per MCI Act 1956, second schedule) or equivalent are eligible to register for PhD.. course in their subject of specialization.

  • In case of clinical subjects, candidates possessing M.D., M.S., D.M., M.Ch or any equivalent P.G. degree after M.B.B.S. recognized by RGUHS are eligible.
  • In case of Pre-Clinical and Para-Clinical subjects, candidates who have done an M.D. or M.S. after an MBBS degree, and non-medical candidates with an M.Sc in the relevant specialization are also eligible.
  • Applicants holding an M.Sc. in Human Genetics degree are also eligible to register for the PhD course in Medical Genetics.
  • Oncology: Candidates who have obtained an M.Sc. in Basic course of oncology Science in the subjects noted below from the Universities established by law in India are eligible to register for a PhD course in their respective subjects provided they have obtained a minimum of 55% marks in the concerned subject.

  • Physiotherapy: Candidates with a PG degree in Physiotherapy i.e., MPT degree awarded are eligible for enrollment to the Ph.D. course in Physiotherapy under Medical faculty.
  • Masters Degree holders in Library and Information Sciences or equivalent are eligible for enrollment to the Ph.D. course in Health Sciences Library and Information Systems (HSLIS). 

NOTE: The Ph.D. degree to be awarded to Non – Medical M.Sc. candidates registered for Ph.D. at Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology, Bangalore shall be given with a different nomenclature as “Ph.D. in Allied Health Sciences (Non – Medical subject to be specified).Health Sciences Library and Information System (HSLIS)

RGUHS Ph.D. Selection Process

All applications received by the University on or before the stipulated time and date shall be placed before the Ph.D. Registration Committee of the respective faculty.  The Committee shall then examine the applications and after satisfying itself about the eligibility requirements, conduct an interview for the candidates.

RGUHS Ph.D. Application Process

Candidates must apply for admission through the online registration process and submit the completed application form. All fields in the application form should be correctly and completely filled in with the relevant information. To fill out the application form correctly, aspirants should log on to the university website and follow the given steps:

  1. In the “Admissions” section, click on the “Online Application” link.
  2. Click on “Apply Now” button and fill in the application form along with the scanned photograph.
  3. Click on the “Save” button if you need to make any changes or click on the “Submit” button if all the particulars are correct.
  4. Upon clicking the “Submit” button, pay the application fee of  INR 3000/-  through the available online payment modes (Debit or Credit Cards, Master or Visa).
  5. Upon successful submission, the candidate will receive a confirmation mail along with your Login ID and Application Number
  6. Candidate must download the completed applications for subsequent use

 The candidate has to submit the attested photocopies of the following documents duly attested by a Gazetted Officer along with the filled application form.

  1. 10th Marks card/Birth Certificate for proof of age.
  2. Attempt Certificate of PG Degree issued by the Principal.
