  • "However, one main flaw that I have noticed was the fact that in the UK MSc courses are only for a year. I felt that I have had a very compact schedule, which in its way has its pros and cons. "

I chose this university because of it's location, job market and job security. Additionally the QR ranking, provisions in terms of qualifications of staff and amenities within the university contributed towards the selection of my university. University life has been pretty good in terms of the different things that I have learnt and my new found independence. Additionally, the academics will be this in terms of the material that was provided, skills that I have obtained through my coursework and assignments. All of which honed me with skills that are very much needed in today’s industry. Additionally, Masters abroad has given me the opportunity to interact with different people. All of us belong to different cultures and I have had many meaningful experiences.

  • Dislikes:
  • The curriculum pressure. It's too much to take this course should be a 2 year course. The support in terms of research opportunities and finding jobs. The availability of faculty, which is not much.

It is going good. Though due to so much pressure, mental health of alot of students is affected and most people take special circumstances and extensions to meet deadlines or improve their performance. It's a challenge to pass courses atleast in my degree program. Most of the people are struggling to just pass. And alot of have applied for special circumstances. It's definitely extremely hard.

  • Dislikes:
  • Sometimes, due to the limited time on a module, the amount of learning scope can be limiting and it would be nicer to get more out of those modules, for example, more intense work in labs during coursework instead of it just happening during the dissertation period.

Overall, I'm satisfied with the experience and the exposure I'm getting. The discussions and learning in such an environment are nourishing but a lot of it has to be self-driven to make the most out of it because otherwise the offerings can feel limiting at times.

  • Dislikes:
  • The university can improve the number of student accommodation in the city as every year there is a housing crisis. The university can try to invite more companies for job fair as it provides networking opportunities. The university can try to reduce the workload for Masters student as it becomes quite challenging to manage so many things in such short period of time

The overall experience was good as I got the opportunity to study at one of the best universities in the world. At the same time, I also got the opportunity to interact with people from all over the world, learn from them, and developed a life long friendship

  • Dislikes:
  • One area that could be enhanced slightly is the availability of study spaces during busy periods, like exam season. Sometimes, it can be a bit challenging to find a quiet spot for focused studying or group collaboration.

My overall experience at the University of Edinburgh has been incredibly rewarding. The rich academic environment, supportive faculty, and diverse student community have made my time here truly fulfilling. From engaging lectures to meaningful interactions with peers, I've gained valuable knowledge and forged lifelong connections. Overall, it's been a journey of growth and discovery that I'll always cherish.

  • I think the campus life could be better in terms of inter school and course events so that we can make more connections and friends. The student accommodations can be closer to campus as well

My overall experience is great. It’s a good learning phase in terms of personal growth. Living abroad alone is challenging but exciting.

  • Dislikes:
  • The time duration given for each text is a little less. I do not think that a two-hour discussion can justify or satisfy the questions of the students even when we are provided extra material to read with it. Also sometime, they would ask us to read two texts for one session which we weren't able to cover at all.

I enjoyed it as much as I could, not just in the area of academics but also opposed me generally living my life in Edinburgh.

  • Dislikes:
  • The initial instructions regarding fee payment, course query and placements were extremely unreliable. There was no specific office where these questions could be asked. The teachers practice a very 'to each your own' approach to studies and there is a lot of self accountability that comes in on a new student.

This college is a great place to be for a year. It gives you the peaceful college experience. The city shuts down early but is very easy to get used to. the college has a grandeur about it which makes the experience more exciting. Meeting people from so many different cultures is always a great learning as well.

My department provides me opportunities to engage in cutting-edge projects and collaborate with leading researchers in the field. Also, the university's research centers and institutes cover a wide range of disciplines and offer a platform for me to contribute to innovative discoveries. Overall experience so far has been really great and I'm so grateful for that.

  • The one thing that I found was a little different from Indian education was that no one really cared, the professors have a really set timings that they can provide for the students, all of them are extremely busy as they work only twice a week for the university and the rest of the time they are in their personal practice. So to actually get on with them is difficult and more so than anything even the professors expect us to solve our issues by ourselves and come to them only if it was the last resort. I personally don’t mind the idea of self study, but the lack of clear instructions and communication sometimes creates a barrier. Because there’s only so much we can understand from a presentation or certain research papers. So for the amount of money that we are paying for the university, I would at least expect to have professors who were there to communicate and help us whenever required.

Overall experience as a counselling student for me has been something that I wouldn’t have been able to capture back home. The structure of the classes, the international students, the knowledge insight is impeccable. Their goal as a counselling faculty is for the students to start knowing themselves before they go into the field and help and guide other individuals. That’s something lacking in our Indian universities.
