  • "However, one main flaw that I have noticed was the fact that in the UK MSc courses are only for a year. I felt that I have had a very compact schedule, which in its way has its pros and cons. "

Campus Life:

University provides many provisions for activities within the campus as well as beyond the campus. Also, have many support systems that are due in finding groups or clubs that you are best suited for. Many of them have a membership for which you have to pay but it is reasonably priced. The university also organizes many events, be it extra curricular or academic. This could be seminars, parties, etc. Library is well stocked with any material that you may need to aid you for your courses. Additionally, there are also many study areas through the campus that students use quite frequently. Wi-Fi services are provided within the campus. It is pretty strong and stable. And there are many sports clubs as well, again for which a membership fee is required, there are also provision of multiple gyms.

Hostel:

I was unable to procure university accommodation, but there are many provisions for that. It is typically recommended to book university accommodations beforehand, as soon as you get your unconditional offer letter. I was unable to procure university accommodation, but there are many provisions for that. My accommodation is a private one. I have shared a kitchen and a shared common area as provided. I have a shared bathroom as well. If accommodations are booked beforehand, they should be relatively cheaper. Typically, the price per week for a flat in shared accommodation is between 100 and 210 pounds. Studio flats are more expensive, with around £300–£400 per week.

  • The curriculum pressure. It's too much to take this course should be a 2 year course. The support in terms of research opportunities and finding jobs. The availability of faculty, which is not much.

Campus Life:

There are a ton of options to do extracurriculars, though I think there is not much time as in my course, I had classes daily from 9-6 or 9-5 mostly. It was a delight for us if some days classes were over by 2 3 PM. The infrastructure, in general, is extraordinary; it's so beautiful. The libraries, since there are so many, are stacked with books. Infinite learning resources.

Hostel:

I live in the University's student accommodation, and it is relatively good. Not the best but it's good and in the city center but the accommodations, in general, are throughout the city.

  • Sometimes, due to the limited time on a module, the amount of learning scope can be limiting and it would be nicer to get more out of those modules, for example, more intense work in labs during coursework instead of it just happening during the dissertation period.

Campus Life:

Events, activities and campus life is vibrant with something or the other going on at any given point. There are also various student-led societies if one wants to join.

Hostel:

I have an en-suite flat with a shared kitchen in a university accommodation building. It's a decent option costing around 8500 GBP for a year.

  • The university can improve the number of student accommodation in the city as every year there is a housing crisis. The university can try to invite more companies for job fair as it provides networking opportunities. The university can try to reduce the workload for Masters student as it becomes quite challenging to manage so many things in such short period of time

Campus Life:

The university provides free wifi, the business school has its own cafeteria, small library and private study rooms which means you don't have to go to the central library or the university cafeteria. In terms of extra curricular activities there are lots of different student clubs and if you want to open a student club the university would support you. The university also operates a student bar where you can study on your laptop, watch sports game or play pool.

Hostel:

I was living in private accommodation but you can also go for university accommodation which comes in ensuite and room sharing option. Usually for washing machine and dryer you have to go in the communal laundry room, the wifi will be free in the building, near the accommodation there will be supermarkets. You have the option to pay for accommodation rent in a single payment or in instalments. For the laundry expect to pay about 5-7 pound for every wash

  • One area that could be enhanced slightly is the availability of study spaces during busy periods, like exam season. Sometimes, it can be a bit challenging to find a quiet spot for focused studying or group collaboration.

Campus Life:

Campus life at the University of Edinburgh is dynamic and engaging. The infrastructure is modern, with well-equipped research facilities, libraries, and reliable WiFi. Students have access to a wide range of clubs, events, and extracurricular activities, fostering a vibrant community. The university also has excellent sports facilities, encouraging physical well-being. Overall, it offers a rich and fulfilling student experience.

Hostel:

Accommodation options vary from on-campus dormitories to off-campus rentals. On-campus rooms can be shared or single, with shared facilities. Off-campus options include private rentals in the city center or nearby. Prices depend on location and amenities, ranging from affordable to higher-end. For detailed information, check the university's website.

  • I think the campus life could be better in terms of inter school and course events so that we can make more connections and friends. The student accommodations can be closer to campus as well

Campus Life:

Infrastructure and extracurricular is great. There is less of campus life as it is an university and everyone has different classes in different campuses, so overall interaction is less

Hostel:

It is a student accommodation. It ranges from 5,000-10,000 GBP

  • The time duration given for each text is a little less. I do not think that a two-hour discussion can justify or satisfy the questions of the students even when we are provided extra material to read with it. Also sometime, they would ask us to read two texts for one session which we weren't able to cover at all.

Campus Life:

I absolutely fell in love with the campus the moment I saw it for the first time.

Hostel:

The accommodations were clean and newly built. Although, they were a bit on the pricier side but I will still prefer those rather than living alone in a new country.

  • The initial instructions regarding fee payment, course query and placements were extremely unreliable. There was no specific office where these questions could be asked. The teachers practice a very 'to each your own' approach to studies and there is a lot of self accountability that comes in on a new student.

Campus Life:

Campus life is exciting as there are many clubs for different events and cultures. the college tries tube as inclusive as possible and has a space for every student. Infrastructure is quite magical and gives a very olden vibe. Accommodations are fantastic, Library is well equipped and available to student 24x7. a lot of open spaced for students to sit study relax.

Hostel:

Accommodations are very good. small rooms but well designed and good for one person stay. some have bathrooms included. safety is provided. common rooms are a hub for student to meet and interact. huge and well equipped communal kitchens. Rent around 5lacs to 8lacs per annum.

The university has variety of opportunities for engagement, extracurricular activities, and events. The university's campus is a combination of historic buildings and modern facilities. The infrastructure includes libraries, research centers, laboratories, lecture halls, student study spaces, sports facilities, and student accommodation.

I have rented a personal private flat. I think average rent is about 600£/month.

  • The one thing that I found was a little different from Indian education was that no one really cared, the professors have a really set timings that they can provide for the students, all of them are extremely busy as they work only twice a week for the university and the rest of the time they are in their personal practice. So to actually get on with them is difficult and more so than anything even the professors expect us to solve our issues by ourselves and come to them only if it was the last resort. I personally don’t mind the idea of self study, but the lack of clear instructions and communication sometimes creates a barrier. Because there’s only so much we can understand from a presentation or certain research papers. So for the amount of money that we are paying for the university, I would at least expect to have professors who were there to communicate and help us whenever required.

Campus Life:

The University of Edinburgh has a wide campus, with their multiple library access. They have their own pubs, reading areas, rooms that can be booked for events, presentations and a lot more. Every campus provides with a study room, computer systems, individual cafeterias and a lot more. The wifi system is universal, so one system connects you with every campus, as long as it’s university of Edinburgh’s campus. They also have their own gym, which is Edinburgh’s biggest gym, at a very reasonable student price.

Hostel:

There are multiple university accommodations throughout the town. They provide students with maximum safety and comfort. Every accommodation has its own perks and cons. Students need to decide what they are comfortable with before choosing the accommodation. The rent is comparatively higher, but it includes all the bills and cleaning once in a while.
