  • Dislikes:
  • 1. The accommodations are pretty small for the price.,
  • 2. The cost of living is high comparatively.,
  • 3. Yes, the weather is rainy most of the time and that does not please everyone.

The location of the university is the primary factor that is attracting most of the students including myself. The modern facilities that the university provides like the libraries, laboratories and so on make it convenient to deal with day-to-day courses. There is a strong social community that keeps you connected with people of similar interests and helps you maintain a work-life balance.

  • Dislikes:
  • I dislike the poor availability of placement which every college in India has.

Top 10 Ranking in the UK and especially it's a Russel Group University. I chose Cardiff University for its strong academic reputation, diverse course offerings, and high global rankings. Its prime location in a vibrant city, along with excellent career opportunities and a supportive campus environment, made it an ideal choice. My overall experience has been enriching, both academically and socially.

  • Dislikes:
  • But the only thing that i don’t like that is placement because they don’t have enough links to the company or brand or firms who can interact or come to uni for giving opportunities to the students

I chose it in Feb or March of 2023 because it offers me a good course and second it’s a Russel group university. My experience was good at the uni and the professors were really good.

  • Help in placements can be improved

I chose this university as it is one of the top university in the UK. I had offers from 5-6 universities but Cardiff University Business School seemed the best option as it is one the best business schools in the UK.

  • Dislikes:
  • Not many placements for JOMEC (journalism of media and communications) building courses.

I chose this university as it comes in the top 3 best universities around the UK for media and communications, also a part of the Russel group. Overall uni experience was amazing, learnt to become independent, had loads and loads of society events, and many on-campus opportunities to earn money and learn and get job experience.

  • Dislikes:
  • In terms of employability, there was a difference, the home students were given help from the beginning while international students were not, they basically had a different course altogether for home students which had compulsory summer internships facilitated by the university. While international students had nothing of that sort.,
  • The help we received from professors on our course compared to home students on their course was extremely different. We did get jobs, but only based on our skills, the networking we did and based on our previous experience.

My overall experience was okayish. I wouldn’t say it was amazing. I chose the university because it was advertised very conceptually saying it was next to the BBC and the media scene in Cardiff was vibrant. I accepted the offer based on the ranking, the accessibility in the city, and the scope to learn and use my skills. I chose the programme because it was the only available one for international students in terms of journalism.

  • The campus is quiet scattered, so the campus you are supposed to go to might actually be very far away from your accommodation. The food sold in the canteen of the university is quite expensive when compared with the food outside. The class hours are very scattered, by having one or two classes in a day during the afternoon.

Overall the university is very good, with diverse people and the best of the faculty who are ready to help you at any given moment.

It is quite difficult to get an accommodation. For me the problem was I am a PhD student but, I get paid so then they are like since you have the money, you should be able to afford any accommodation. I think because I came during Covid time so, it was a lot more difficult.

Because it was a Russel group uni and research is important/ what I want to do, it also specializes in semiconductors which I wanted to do and it was the best I got an offer for based on my predicted A-level grades.
