What Students Say
Likes
- Student support by lecturers.
- Taking care of students well being.
- Employability opportunities.
Dislikes
- Firstly I don't have any negatives or dislikes about my university.
- I am confused about teaching buildings there are several buildings at the University.

Course Curriculum
- It's not very difficult and not so easy to do this data Science course. In my course, it was both theoretical and practical. For example, if I have 2 hours of machine learning class on the same day, we will have 2 hours of machine learning lab.
- Data Science is an overrated course, From my perspective, just because of the boom, everyone is taking up this course without considering their freedom of choice and interest. Of course, Greenwich always stands for student employability by launching programs like job fairs and student ambassador opportunities.
- Tatiana Simmonds is our programme leader, a very communicative and supportive leader and always answers my queries.
Admission Experience
-
I applied for the following universities:
- University of Greenwich - admitted
- University of East London - Rejected - because of previous visa refusal
- Kingston University - didn't get any update
- University of Suffolk - got an offer letter
- The University of Leicester - didn't get any update
- Aston University - didn't get any update
- University of Huddersfield - didn't get any update
- Also, I didn't wait for other universities' offer letters; after getting admission from Greenwich, I finalised it.
- I considered University rankings and opportunities and affordable fees.
- I have submitted all my educational documents to CollegeDunia and they took over the admission process.
- The university accepted my intermediate English marks.
- It was really good and at the same time, as a student, I had that fear in my head if I didn't get this but Collegedunia made it. I felt bad and disappointed about the scholarship I applied for, but I didn't get it.
- I applied for the Sep 2024 intake.
- And I started my process in April. It took almost 4 months to complete all the processes, including fund collection, bank statements, and visas.
- Even though I faced many challenges in this whole process, my counsellor, Suhana, never gave up. She taught me every possible way to get in. The main thing was the educational loan and disbursement process.
Faculty
- Around 40 students of the data science course in my class. In this, almost all Indian students are there. The student-faculty ratio was 12 or 14:1. I don't think it is bad because no matter the student-faculty ratio after class or lecture, we need to do self-study. If we had any doubts, the faculty was always there to help us, especially in Greenwich. Faculty were always open to bringing up new teaching techniques and resolving students' queries and doubts.
Campus Life
-
We have three campuses:
1. University of Greenwich, Old Royal Naval College. Which is in South East London Se10 9LS and also the main campus. From this campus only we have bus facilities to go to another campus
2. University of Greenwich, Kent Campus
3. University of Greenwich, Medway campus. Which is special for pharmaceutical course - There are several facilities provided by the university: those are the library, laptops, and job fairs. Educating students on healthy relationships, anti-racism programmes, employability opportunities and many more.
Part Time Jobs
- Not many students secure TA or departmental positions because the number of opportunities is less and students are more. The pay range will be based on the rules of the UK government and is fixed for everyone. Based on our age, the pay for an hour varies, and the pay for ages 23 and above is the same. There will be few jobs on campus as student ambassadors, and there will be a job shop that offers jobs for the students. The maximum working hours are 20 hours as per the rules of the UK government for international students for part-time. It is very difficult to secure on-campus part-time jobs as a huge number of internationals will be trying for the jobs.
- Most Indian students prefer to do part-time based on references, and we will also get part-time jobs easily by reference. Also, mostly Indian students prefer restaurants and bars as part-time jobs. The basic pay for part-time is 12 pounds per hour. As students, we are eligible to do part-time for 20 hours per week. Mostly students get 11 pounds per hour. If we get more than 12 pounds per hour, we should pay tax as per UK rules and regulations, and as students, we will get that refund. For applying for jobs we are using Indeed and reed.uk.jobs.
Placement
- As per my knowledge, I got this information from my seniors. Mostly 30 to 40% of students only get a full-time professional job within 6 months of completing their course, and also nowadays it's difficult to get a full-time professional job because of competition, visa rules, and all. We will get a job offer by using campus recruitment, seniors, and our own, and also by using LinkedIn and Indeed. As per new rules and regulations, the average salary was, I remember, 38600 pounds per year.
Accommodation
- I opted for off-campus accommodations. I found this accommodation through my friend. The monthly rent was 430 per head and billed another 30 pounds for a month. It was separated from the actual rent. Facilities included electricity, gas, wifi, a washing machine, a backyard, and heaters.
- I would like to say to future students: find accommodation through friends and ask them to go and check if you found any accommodations and have proper communication before paying the deposit and rent. For me, it takes 40 minutes via train to reach my campus, and it costs around 2.50 pounds for a one-way trip.
Exams
- University accepted my intermediate English marks even though I have an IELTS score band.
- Required documents: 10th mark sheets, intermediate mark sheets, Undergraduate mark sheets, Course Completion Certificate, Degree Certificate, Provisional certificate, individual semester mark sheets, CMM, resume, Passport with updated address and IELTS score card.
- Pre-CAS interviews were mandatory to attend. In this interview, they will ask questions about the University and about ourselves.
Fees
- It is a 1-year course, and for the 1-year course, they charged 18150 pounds. I paid almost 60% of the fee in India and the remaining fee I paid while online registering. I paid 7 and a half lakhs in India and the remaining amount I paid in pounds. Also, the university gave me a discount of 415 pounds for early payment of the tuition fee.
- For monthly expenses, rent is 400 pounds to 500 pounds. Groceries 100 Travelling Pounds.
Scholarship
- There is a scholarship scheme for students who are coming to university; for that, we have to go to the university website page and need to apply. While applying, we should check the weekdays and decision reveal days, which include dates. In the process of applying, we need to list our academic achievements and work experience. I did everything, but I didn't receive any scholarships due to the high volume of scholarship applications for my course.
