Over the past 2 years I have really enjoyed my experience at the university. The university allows students strike a balance between their academics and their interests. I've had the opportunity to meet students from all over the world and pursue a course which is very dynamic and interesting.
Course Curriculum :
The course is very updated and gives students the flexibility to choose electives along with compulsory courses. The course is structured very well to cover all the content over each semester. Economics in specific doesn't have any research involved but there are many career and industrial related exposure.
Exams :
I did the IB Diploma Programme in High School so I did not have any tests requirements. However, I had to achieve a grade 6 out of 7 in Higher Level Mathematics and a 7 in Economics. I had to write a personal statement in my UCAS application. It included both my academic and extra-curricular achievements. I did not have to the any interviews during the university application process.
Placement :
There is no guaranteed placement but the university does have tie-ups with organisations and large-multinationals (Morgan Stanley, Deloitte, PWC, E&Y, Barlays, Lloys Bank). There is an annual careers fair as well for students to interact with employers who offer placements and summer or spring internships
Internship :
I did a 9 week summer internship at Arthur D Little, a management consulting firm in my fist year. I had to go through 3 rounds of interview after applying for the internship. I was paid around GBP 400 per week. In my second year, I did an internship at Emirates NBD which is a banked based in the UAE. I also had to apply and go through 4 rounds of interviews. I did a rotation between the treasury, payments and ESG department over 9 weeks.
Fees :
GBP 19,350
Scholarship :
Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship - awarded as a tuition fee discount of £5,000 per year of study and is subject to satisfactory progress for consecutive years of study.
Faculty :
The faculty is very diverse and friendly. They make sure to engage with the students needs and take into consideration of their preferences as well. They also provide extra support for students struggling with certain concepts within a module.
Campus Life :
1) Large library of 8 floors with study spaces and rooms for group studies. The library also has a cafeteria and vending machine. 2) Learning Spaces such as the Fraser Building and JMS Learning Hub for students. 3) Large Gym with Olympics Pool and Sauna as well. The Gym also organise classes for members. 4) Zoology and Hungarian Museum in the main campus. 5) Newly Opened Research Center in the Main Campus. 6) The University Union which has rooms for society/club events as well as a pub. 7) The Hive which is the university club.
Hostel :
The university has many accommodations which is usually a min of 15 to 25 mins max walk away from the main campus. The accommodation is organised like a apartment/flat where the student will have their own room with an en-suite bathroom but the kitchen and living space will be share.
