Master of Science [M.S] (Physics - Materials Science)
Field of Study:
$7,650 /Yr
The study of materials is based on the relationship between the properties of a material (which determine its functionality), its structure, and the way that the material is assembled. Materials science is inherently multidisciplinary and includes subjects from both basic sciences and engineering, and from physics and chemistry.
The Master?s programme in Materials Science is a flexible and interdisciplinary programme for postgraduate students with a strong interest in learning about how important properties of materials depend upon the materials? structure and constituents. The characterisation of materials by spectroscopy, diffraction and microscopy is an important dimension in the programme, and the new materials science facilities - the MAX IV synchrotron radiation laboratory and the planned European Spallation Source (ESS) for neutronbased research - are in focus.
It is possible to combine theoretical or computational studies with experimental approaches within the programme. The goal of the Master?s programme is to produce well-rounded materials scientists who are able to apply the principles of materials science for carrying out engineering and/or research projects. The programme emphasises application of advanced technologies in materials science. The close proximity to large-scale facilities and excellent materials science research groups provides excellent opportunities for inspiring Master?s thesis research projects.?

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- An undergraduate degree (BA/BSc) with a major in a subject matter other than business administration or management. English 6/English course B.
Indian Student Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they complete one of the following eligibility criteria:
- The minimum requirement is a 4-year Bachelor's degree or a Bachelor's degree followed by a Master's degree (4 years of study in total).
- Consideration will also be given to applicants who have attained a 3-year Bachelor's degree with honors in certain social science or humanities majors.
- Students holding only a 3-year Bachelor's degree without honors will not satisfy the entry requirements for a master's program. A Post Graduate Diploma is not considered equivalent to a Swedish kandidatexamen and does not meet the requirement.
Lund University does not require a GMAT or GRE score, but a well-balanced score may strengthen the application to this particular program.
