My Experience at IHM PUSA

Dislikes

  • The things I disliked is the college timming which is from 9 am to 5 pm
  • The college rules and regulations are very strict

Course Curriculum Overview :

So IHM PUSA ranks no 1 among all the IHM in India and so is its quality of students and facilities this course is for people who want to enter in hotel line . The curriculum prepares me and all other students very much for real world applications or further academic pursuits. The frequency and timming of exam is like the mid term exams will start after 3 months from the starting of semester and end semester exam after 6 months of starting of the semester

Internships Opportunities :

The intership opportunities available is the internship training programme which is of 17 weeks and during this period students are send to various hotel group for doing their intership in which they learn and do what actually happens in a hotel the stipend can vary from 1500 to 6000 . Either the college can assign you a hotel or you can apply on your own for industrial training in any hotel group

Placement Experience :

Yes our college provides campus placement with very high profile hotel companies. The students are eligible for campus placements from 5th semester when they are in 3rd year . The companies that visited are Hotel Taj, Hotel Oberoi, Hyatt, JW Marriott , The Leela , ITC etc . The highest package of last year was 9 Lack per annum and the average was 3 lack per annum. The percentage of students getting placements are 97.42% . For now i don't have any plans other than getting placement in a high profile hotel at a good post but maybe in future if I want i will pursue higher education.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The tution fee is 70000 per semester the registration fee was 10500 , admission fee 1600 Caution fee 8000 The year wise fee I will be paying will be 160000 The fees for my batchmate other than my categories is also same There are scholarship on the basis of merit category, state domicile, reservation.

Campus Life :

There are a lots of functions and festivals organised in IHM PUSA but as I'm a fresher and it's been only 4 months in the college so I don't know much about it. There are a lots of books and journals available in the library and anyone can go and read them in their free time in the college. Our college also have many clubs in which students participate like the dance club, music club , game clubs etc . Our college have a vollyball ground and a basketball court and also we have a weekly yoga session for each and every batch students.

Admission :

This college ranks no 1 in India in the field of hospitality and hotel administration that's why I chose this college over other colleges. I didn't applied for any other colleges. The admission process You have to give the NCHMCT JEE exam then according to your rank you will get the colleges according to your rank in the exam. The eligibility criteria is that you should have passed your 12 with above 45 percent and with English as a main subject or you can also give the exam is you are appearing for the 12 boards . The cutoffs differ every year and after you get the seat in the college you have to pay 20000 as seat confirmation .

Faculty :

The faculty - to - student ratio is 1:30 . The faculties are really kind and helping in nature and are very highly approachable The faculty I liked the most is Vineet sheemar who is our food production teacher. He is very kind and helpful and always tries his best to teach us and make us understand the topic To be honest there is no faculties i dislike There are mid term exams and end semester exam .

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements in the final year but students can earn from day 1 by indulging themselves in ODC(outdoor catering) in which the college will let you know about the job and you can go to a particular event and can earn a stipend from 700-1200 per day. Every year the college offers students the to run a food stall inside the college premises which is known as a food fest in which students can work in team and can earn money as well. The average placement package is 6,00,000 p.a. and can go as high as 12,00,000 and of course as you get more experienced you get paid accordingly. The college provides 100% which means every student will sit in the interviews and can get the job accordingly to their expertise. As I am interested in the kitchen department I will find a job in the same department.

Remarks:

The college management is poor, takes a lot of time to get a new machine in a kitchen if an old one gives away. In short, it's a good college, but I'd suggest to go to private colleges owned by Oberoi or ITC or Taj. They are better in terms of quality of
