NMIMS, is it worth it

Dislikes

  • Not good placement opportunities, especially for the ones associated with finance.
  • No events organized by the college even after high fees for the college.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum was the focal point of the college. My reason for taking up this course was because I am someone who loves money and its working therefore finance and am always intrigued with the business world therefore BBA. The course was highly efficient along with thier efficient faculties. They covered all major parts of a business as a whole be it marketing, operations, sales, financing, accounting etc. It was relevant to the knowledge required in real time on professional grounds. The area of improvement for the course could have been that it should have emphasised on learning of professional tools like Tally, Power BI, SQL etc. which helps in the current job world. I have talked about the exams in detail int he previous section itself.

Placement Experience :

The campus placement opportunities start from the first semester of 3rd year or the 5th semester. The eligibility for the opportunity is generally decided by the company that arrives. The main drawback was that there were not many finance roles offered in my placement season due to which I am currently suffering with it. A few of the companies that brought finance roles and offers made were Tresvista(4-5), Verity(1), and Wells Fargo(5-6 (2 finance)).

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Development Fees - L 50000 Other Fees 74000 Tution Fees 124000 Total 294000 There were no merit based fees. This was the same fee for each of my batchmate.

Campus Life :

The life on campus is actually quite blingy and posh as many students of business families are a part of the college. The campus has lecture rooms, group discussion rooms, a library, a cafeteria, a non-functional ground, a basketball court, parking and a lot of nature. I was not much of a social person, but if someone has been a part of the hostel during their start are will have friends as afterwards it all gets segregated into groups and people find it difficult to make new friends. There were many clubs and committes

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel was another very expensive element which was not at all worth the money. They charged around 23k per month which included bus service, breakfast, snacks and dinner at the hostel and lunch in college's separate mess. They provided with a twin sharing room in a kind of 4 BHK with very small rooms. The overall experience of the hostel was good as you get to know people make friends enjoy your off college time but according to what they charged it was not worth it. The meals were just bearable, and someone can very easily get bored with it. Ironically, they did not serve dinner on Sundays. Talking about the registration, after the primary course related formalities are done the college itself sends are mail regarding it and the main information is that it is not compulsory to take up hostel which was a major confusion in our time as well, its just that it is an affiliated with the college therefore they emphasize it that's it.

Admission :

I applied for many colleges and got selected for almost all leaving majorly IIM Indore because of my lack of preparation as I could only give a month's time towards its preparation which is much less than expected. I chose NMIMS out of the other colleges as it had better ranking in particular to BBA course in India and I belived that it is a much much big banner that will help me in my future as well. I have also talked about the admission process in previous sections that it has an enterance test with the name of NMAT which is an aptitude test conducted online with medium difficulty level. After one clears the NMAT test they get the eligible list of colleges according to their score. Then it depends on the college whether after than a PI will be conducted or not like in my case no further PI or GD happened. After my NMAT I chose the bangalore campus and then we had to pay the fee for the first year and that's it.

Faculty :

The focal point of the college was its course curriculum and its faculty that's it, all the starts in the review are just for that and nothing else. The curriculum is completely related to the knowledge required on a professional grounds. The faculty too was good in most of the subjects. The examinations were internal (50) and external (50) where internals comprised of projects assignments presentations and 20 marks ICA or midterm. External 50 marks were of a final exam whose paper was set generally by Mumbai campus and then checked by other college branches. All of this combining to a total of 100 marks each semester with a total credit of 4. Therefore, the semester GPA and a year's CGPA is calculated out of 4.

The placements for every final year student are amazing and they are all provided with great companies and great packages this makes us more confident as we all are worried what next after college You have nothing to worry under acharyas placement program The percentage of students getting placed in 75-80% It solely depends on how the student performs The highest package offered in Acharya this year was 28LPA Which is a huge number for a management student

Scholarship was the main thing that attracted me to opt for BBA where as I scored well in my 12th class . Areas for the improvement is only in the practical papers as we don't get sufficient time to study during our final exams

Placement Experience:

Placements do come in college but don't expect any good placements from this college. In our batch sales jobs were promoted more rather than marketing and HR. And also if someone expects good packages as a fresher than you should keep in mind that the industry is really vast so build up proper skills by taking knowledge as a fresher in your 2 years. Don't run behind money

I would say the difficulty level is 2/5 as the exams are very easy to handle and not too complicated. The course curriculum is relevant to the day today concepts and majorly focussed on corporate sectors.
