- Things I like about the college are good faculty. They're knowledgeable and experienced.
- There is free Wi-Fi in almost every college under VKSU. Also the fee is very minimal and affordable for almost everyone. Scholarships by Bihar government and central government are also provided.
Dislikes
- Things I dislike include classes are not taken regularly as most students who study here are government exam aspirants so they focus more on that and that's why they're absent most of the time and classes are not conducted because of this.
- Another thing is there is almost no scope of getting a job after finishing a course. There are a few companies that come every during job fair but you'll be lucky to get a job from them. Also the salaries are not that high
Course Curriculum Overview :
This university used to follow three year course program but now they've changed it to a four year programme. This programme follows the latest syllabus which is recommended by the University grants commission (UGC) . Earlier there used to be only one exam at the end of every year so total three exams only for a three year course. But 2023 onwards, they've started conducting monthly tests as well as semester exams also. These exams are almost conducted on time with a few exceptions. The difficulty levels are easy to moderate.
Fees and Financial Aid :
The tution fee is very minimal. My course ( 3-year programme) costs about 6.5k (including admission fee, tution fee, registration fee, exam fee, practical fee etc.) . But according to the new 4-year programme, it has increased to almost 12-13k for the whole course including all charges. If you belong to SC/ST or are a female student, you fee can also be waivered off. Also there are many scholarships provided by the Bihar government and central government. Bihar government provides 25k to every girl student if they get 1st division in class 12th. Also you can apply for almost every scheme under National scholarship portal. There is a central sector scheme for college and university students which gives 12k per year to students until their course ends. In my college, any student can apply for a responsibility of the head boy and they get 5k per month based on their experience and performance.
Campus Life :
There are almost none annual fests held but some colleges held their own small annual fests at the end of every year. You'll have to talk to your college management for details about that. Smaller fests are organized too such as Republic day celebration, independence day celebration etc. You can find almost any book related to your course in your college's library and journals are available too. The classroom facilities are minimal. Most classrooms have fans , bulbs but in very poor condition. Some colleges even have smart displays instead of blackboards. The sports clubs are active though. You can play almost any sport and there is a sports fest organised every year during August - December. Moreover, you can enroll in NSS or NCC.
Admission :
You'll have to have passed 12th or equivalent exam to get admission to undergraduation programs. The admission process is based on your 12th standard marks. About 3-4 merit lists are released every year with decreasing number of marks required for the admission. The more marks you have, the better college you get. There are many colleges under VKSU but the best four are H.D. Jain College, Maharaja College, SB college and Jag Jivan college. To get into HD jain College, you'll need above 90% marks. You can benefit from the reservation if you belong to a minority. There is no entrance exam for the admission. Application form can be found on University Website VKSUEXAMS.COM and the application fee is about 300. The applications usually start between June- August . There are also two additional rounds of admissions if the seats remain vacant after 3-4 merit lists . These are sports quota ( for students with good athletic ability) and spot admission ( if the seats remain vacant).
Faculty :
The faculty are knowledgeable but they don't conduct classes regularly as most of the students don't attend these classes. In my class , there are over 500 students but when offline classes or even online classes are conducted, only 15-20 students join. The faculty -to-student ratio is also good . There are about 4 faculty for each class of 500 students. These teachers are well trained and well qualified for their jobs. Also they're very approachable and they interact with students who are interested in learning.
