SRMIST KTR, A Comprehensive Review

Dislikes

  • The problem with the college is, it's overpopulated. There are almost 6000 people in my batch across all streams. The Lifts, and classes nad frankly every public place is always crowded and i think the college could be a bit bigger.
  • The other problem is the hostels. They are way to overpriced for what they provide, 2 lacs for a three sharing room is alomst diabolical, but we as students have no other options.

Course Curriculum Overview :

ELectrical Engineering was one course i was always interested in. So when i got to college it was obvious for me. At SRM, They had an impressive EEE department so i was drawn towards them. Exams happen requently, per se once a month, then we have the end-sems which are set by external faculty and also corrected by them. One improvement i would like is to provide to include more practical knowldege in the courses

Internships Opportunities :

The internships at SRM are pretty good. Many students get placed at MNC's at which they finish their internships and. continue to work in. Students even get internships at government institutions like ISRO, DRDO etc.

Placement Experience :

Students become eligible for plaemnts in their final year of college. There a re a plethora of companies that visit for campus placements. For example, Infosys, Cognizant, TCS, IBM, Amazon ect are some of the Multi-National companies that sit for placements. With over 1300 companies coming, offering 9000 jobs. The highest paying job was 57 LPA. with 3327 of those 9000 jobs being high-paying.My plans after getting the degree is to go for higher studies in foreign or indian students.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The course affordability is poor in SRM. At 2.5 lacs, it is rather expensive to spend 10 Lac rupees to complete your B.Tech excluding your living chargers ad well. The complete cost of my education at SRM would cost me around 15-20 Lacs including living expenses as well. But they do provide scholarships for the gifted. The campus placements on an average stake at 7.5 lacs which is not much. But considering the money you spend, you better stud y and get a package better than average.

Campus Life :

There are two annual festivals, AARUSH a technical festival and MILAN a cultural one, both held in a year but in different semesters. The college boasts a vast libraries ranging from every book you oculd possibly need, all the way from electrical to hotel management. Each classroom has secuirity cameras and a smartboard for next level studies, vere level. It has also facilities for sports like tennis, cricket, volleyball etc.

Hostel Facilities :

Each student is provided with a bed, table, cupboard and a chair whent hey enter the room. The mess is really good, although meals are repeated throughout the week, it is quite tasty an exceeded my expectations. Registration for hostel has to be done online in their student portal, that they provide once you pay the tution fees

Admission :

The admission process was very streamlined, The college consucts the SRMJEEE which is an online entrance exam and it is not that difficult. Any students with a CBSE level preperation can crack the exam. They conduct three or four times a year. The application form and details can be found on their offical wesbsite. The one area which can be improved, is to conduct the exams offline to decreade malpractices

Faculty :

At SRM, the faculty members are not just members they are mentors. The cornerstone of SRM's academic prowress lies in it's faculty's unmatched esertise and credibility. Comprising a diverse mix of seasoned professors, industry people and researchers. One of the advantages is the avourable faculty-to-student ratio. It boasts a crazy 1:19 ratio which alowscloser guidance and mentorship from th faculty and in turn makes sure that no student is left behind. Beyond knowledge, professors take the time to get to know each student as an individual, understanding their aspirations, strenghts and weaknesses. They provide their personal numbers to students for doubts and queries.

Collected opinions of family and friends changed my perspective and I opted for the other option

Placement Experience:

From semester 6, they will provide campus placement offers. It depends on the students. Many companies will be visiting the college every year. Infosys, IBM, tata, reliance, and many more top companies will be visiting. We may get enormous offers from companies. The highest package is 12laks and average package is 2laks. Nearly every single student will be placed, except some slow learners and who are not mentally prepared one's. My plans after my degree are to get a deserved job and should be profitable.
