- Hospital in which they place us for practice provides us the hands on experience, and the doctors in the Govt Rajaji Hospital Madurai, which is an association of Madurai medical College is really Excellent.
- B.Sc Nursing has separate college building named as College of Nursing
Dislikes
- Is is mandatory for both boys and girls studying B.Sc Nursing to stay in Hostel. However some students can get permission to come from their home after requisition. There is no playground for girls. No co-curriculum activities eg sports etc
- College is although a Govt institution but it collects monthly class funds for buying class things and also if there is some requirement in the college then the amount is mostly collected by the college.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I choose this course as I'm getting scholarship and pursuing this course as future safety in terms of getting job easily. College will prepare you well as professional nurse but something you might be lacking is theoretical knowledge as many tutors are just reading the ppt and SlideShare instead of actually teaching. However you'll be well prepared for final annual examination as they will conduct weekly test and premodal and modal test and some extra tests to prepare you for writing exams. As of now, I'm in 4th year of my Nursing course, I've seen students getting the highest score of 78%-80% in their results. The lowest scoring candidate is 60%
Internships Opportunities :
College doesn't allows you to do internship from outside the institution, You've to do internship in Govt Rajaji Hospital Madurai-20 which is an association of Madurai Medical College and it's mandatory. You'll not get any stipend during your whole course till internship. Internship is same as your regular course posting in wards exempting the name will change to internship. The duration of internship is 6 months, including you course. Total course will be of 4 years including internship. Best of luck, i hope you'll consider my point and may choose for some other courses or go for the same In another state like Kerala.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Although your College fees is 3950/yr. It is just a college fees excluding your examination fees which will be be different as per the year you're studying in, example for Third year B.Sc nursing we've paid 4000 rupees, it changes as per year of course. ST/SC students are paying college fees of 1500 per year. Various scholarships are present in the college. Some students may avail as higher as 15,000 rupees per year. The complete cost of your course may vary as College is collecting money for buying class things like chalk, marker, AV aids etc. Campus will not provide you job opportunities there is no placement provided by the college for B.Sc Nursing.
Campus Life :
You should prefer any other college if you want to join college, your college life will be depressing, there is no fun in this college it's like a military school or even more strict than that. It doesn't vibe like a college, there are lot of bullish and useless rules example while entering into the mess there are two doors very close to each other, 1 is for girls and 1 is for boys both doors open up into 1 mess, and in class there is single door and both boys and girls enter there from 1 door, could you justify this. This college is all about degrading your normal well-being.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel facility for girls is very excellent as compared to boys. There will be 2 fan in one room and 2 students have to stay per room. You can't choose your mate in room if you're staying in girls hostel, college or seniors will alot them according to their wish. You're not ever allowed to go out of the hostel your 4 yeas will be like your in jail, both hostel and college are in one building. Boys hostel is located at some distance from the college, boys are allowed to go for outing without permission, night time you can go out upto 10 pm if you're staying in boys hostel. For boys hostel environment is not that good as in first, second and third year you've to stay in one room with 4 boys, in fourth year you'll be getting a room for 2 students per room, there is no cupboard, no bed, in the room except for fourth year room.
Admission :
You're eligible for BSC nursing if you've chosen Medical in your +2 from any board of school education. You can visit the tamilnadu medical mgr website for applying for this course. As per counselling you'll be getting this college. Admission is very easy in this college but getting out is very difficult. If you got in and you want to leave or cancel your admission after getting admission you'll have to pay 1 lakh rupees to college.
Faculty :
Faculty members are highly educated and experienced staff members, however not all teachers are professionally skilled, like you'll experience both good and bad in learning. Some teachers will give excellent lectures which will definitely brain storm you mind, and some will only read the PPT and SlideShare downloaded from internet and wind-up the class. There are 200 (50 in each class) undergraduate students pursuing B.sc Nursing and 50 students doing M.Sc ( 25 students per year ) and 4 students doing diploma in Critical Care Nursing. There are 20 teachers totally including 1 principal, 1 vice principal and HOD's of respective departments such as medical surgical nursing, Child health nursing, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Community health nursing.
