Review of Academic and Campus Life at Mumbai

Dislikes

  • The College supports extra curricular activities a lot more than needed

Course Curriculum Overview :

The Computer Engineering course curriculum is high relevant, aligning with industry standards and future academic pursuits. Some key points are, It includes practical projects, modules on emerging technologies and foundation of the course. It prepares student for real life applications and further studies. Improvements could include more hands-on workshops, industry certification and courses. Exams are also well- structured, fair and reflect the curriculum. A Mid Semester Exam and an End Semester Exam are conducted in a semester with a moderate difficulty level.

Internships Opportunities :

VIT has covered good intership opportunities with top companies by Industry leaders like Infosys, Wipro, Reliance Jio, etc with roles ranging from Software engineering to Data Analytics. Stipend for these internships vary from 5000 to 20000 per month. In these internships students engage in various projects that yeid significant outcomes like working with modules for Enterprise applications. The internships provide hands on experiences bridging the gap between theoritcal knowledge and real life applications.

Placement Experience :

Placements at VIT are decent enough, with students becoming eligible for placements from the 6th Semester. Leading companies like TCS, Wipro, Infosys and Capgemini regularly visit the campus, offering numerous positions. The highest package recently offered was 37.5LPA by Uniqlo while the average package stands around 3-4LPA. Approximately 85% students are placed every year. After completing my degree I plan to secure a role, while also exploring for opportunities for higher studies.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The Fee Structure is 136202 (Tution Fee) + 17298 (Development Fees) = 153500 (Total Fees). Students with less income are eligible for MahaDBT Scholarship which will reimburse half the amount of Tution Fee.

Campus Life :

My Overall experiences with campus life at VIT till now has been enriching with vibrant annual events like VERVE, Techfests, etc and many other extra curricular activities. We have access to a well stocked library with extensive books and journals which can be issued whenever needed, modern Air conditioned, Lecture Capture System, and Smartboard equipped classrooms. Sports like Cricket, Handball, Yoga, etc are also promoted in the campus. Student can access Den which has many indoor games like Chess, Table Tennis, Carrom, Air Hockey, etc to spend leisure time. Techical committees like CSI-VIT, CESA-VIT are available which makes campus life more engaging.

Admission :

Eligibilty is through JEE/MHT-CET. Cutoff and details about admission and reservation benefits will be released on the official website vit.edu.in. Students can apply from the Option Filling form released by the government. Admission will be confirmed after payment of fees and document verification.

Faculty :

The effectiveness and qualifications of the faculty members enhances the learning experience at VIT. A faculty to student ratio is on an average 1:50 with a supportive learning environment. The faculties are highly qualified professional with industry experiences in their respective field. The teaching approach is a mix of theoritical and practical real life application based. Every Student has a mentor faculty regularly engaging with students through meetings, etc ensuring they are approachable for academic and career guidance.

Placement Experience:

Placement is not that good. Overall the average placement is only about 4,00,000 per year. And campus placement are there but it won't provide you high paying jobs you'll have to do that on your own. So focus more on personal skills

As I am in second year I don't have that much of idea about the placement but there are very good placements for the printing and intc branch in this college. There I will see near they got the very good packages for this branches and along with CS IT branches they got 40 to 50 lakh packages. Also the college provides the interview sessions and the placement training programs in that the experts come and give training to the students for placement programs. There are various students that are placed in with us countries like Japan Germany's and they are working in ITI and various professions.

Placement Experience:

I have also got nearly three placements. Currently, I am working in Accenture with a package of 6.5 lpa. I have experienced a decent placement process which was very systematic in that every or each of the students can get placed. For placements, SKNCOE is the best in Maharashtra.
