- Infrastructure and campus are really great in kmc. The environment is very safe
- Facilities and hostel. One of the best in India. Beautiful hostels and even the cheaper ones are good. Facilities like sports complex called marena have everything
Dislikes
- Mess food. Could be better, and put more effort into
- A few professors are just not good at teaching. But your concerns will be looked at if complained
Course Curriculum Overview :
The college follows a set curriculum given by NMC ( national medical council ) al the syllabus is covered in various ways. Through lectures , tutorials , self learning , tests , clinicals , practical's. Every knowledge you gain will be useful in your medical career.
Internships Opportunities :
Post mbbs 1 year internship in kmc hospital itself is compulsory. Rotation is all departments in the hospital over 1 year. You do get total of 2 years to complete the internship. Pay currently is 30,000 per month
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fees is fixed quota wise. General and nri. There is increment every year on fees. They provide scholarships on tuition fees to highly scoring students which you have to maintain throughout college by getting certain grades otherwise your scholarship might be revoked. Books and everything you have to pay for. They do not provide any kits or anything. Hostel payment is based on the type of hostel and room that you select. There are cheap to expensive options available. They have recently started payment in emi / instalments and I believe there is a loan system as well. There's no concept of campus jobs as such but you could work in local stores here. It's only a good idea to come here if you can afford it. You can honestly live any lifestyle you chose , but it's best to join with a certain amount in mind.
Campus Life :
There are a lot of opportunities for extra curricular ( although it's more in engineering colleges ) there are many student run clubs , academic and non academic , sports , media related etc. it's lovely to be a part of these as you will make friends and have exposure. There's a student council too. Campus has everything from general stores to amazing food court (even with a subway!) to parlour , laundry service etc. Manipal is a small town and everything is very accessible even out of campus. There is a party culture here with clubs but that is really on you if that's the lifestyle you want to live. There's no peer pressure. You can chose your friends and lifestyle Classrooms are uptodate , hospital is accessible, everything is clean and nice. Huge complex for sports and sports team is there as well
Admission :
Eligibility changes based on NEET scores. In my year the cut off was 500-550 marks in NEET for general category. For NRIS it's much lesser , just qualifying marks. Application was done online , we had to visit once in between. Marks are held semester wise and one final university exam end of the year with the full year syllabus
Faculty :
All the faculty are highly trained. All of them are doctors. They manage their busy schedule in the hospital along with teaching quite well. The teaching is done with projectors, blackboards and ppts. But they also conduct group discussions , regular tests, and ofcourse hands on learning in the clinics. A few of them are strict but I agree with that teaching style.
