SD College Chandigarh : Pros and Cons

Dislikes

  • No space for indoor games . There should be an indoor badmintor court and proper sports facilities . There very less sports facilities in the college.
  • Very high fines imposed on students . The amount of fine is much higher than other colleges and this is one of the major issues in the college.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I come from a business background thats why i chose BBA . The course is really good in terms of business and management. In terms of real life i dont think the course is of much importance but it shows us the basics of business management. Teaching should be more of a practical nature than reading theoretical books . The college should organise regular feild visits and internships. There are 2 semester final exams in a year and two mid semester exams in between of each semester . The difficulty is of moderate Level .

Internships Opportunities :

There are less internship facilities in our college . I have never been to any internship. In this field our college needs a lot of improvement. They should provide internships to the students . I think this is the biggest drawback of this college .

Placement Experience :

Placements are the biggest drawback of the college . There is almost zero placements in the college . Very less students gets placement but the average packge is very less . The students can apply for jobs after the course is over bit thats a very hactic process .

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The course fee is very less as compared to other private colleges and universities. But there is no scholarship and very less placements. It is the biggest drawback of the college . The total fees for BBA course including hostel fees and other expense comes close to 10 lakhs .

Campus Life :

My campus life is really good . There is our annual fest "VIRAASAT" which is held in the months of march and april . There are also various small fests are being organised . There is a wide range of books and other reading materials in the library . The library area is really nice . The classrooms are equipped with projectors and speakers but I've never seen any teacher using it . So classrooms are very old school

Hostel Facilities :

Im living in the boys hostel for 2 years and the hostel is quite good . The food quality is average and sometimes good . The rooms are either 2 seater 3 seater or 4 seaters. They all come with windows curtains beds and almirahs and a table and chair for each student . Hostel is cheaper than renting out a pg or flat outside the college . The best locations for pg is the residential area near the college . A lot of options are available to choose from

Admission :

The admission process was really smooth and it was on the basis of 12 th boards results . There was a common form of DHE in which we have to select college on the basis of our prefrence . Most of the admission process was online and hassle free .

Faculty :

The teachers are very educated and supportive in nature . But they have less teaching experience especially the teachers of my class . A lot of group discussions and in class activities are organised by the teachers . They are really frank with us and can interact anytime in college hours . The student teacher ratio is quite nice and there is a balanced class systems in our college

From 3rd semester ,one can become eligible for placement . As I am new in the college so I don't know much but through seniors I get to know that minimum package of our college is 500000 and rest it depends on person to person ability and potential to conquer and win .

Placement Experience:

The students those who are in 6th semester gbey are eligible for the placement if s student hot palced they started worked There along with studies. students need te maintain the cgp minimum 7 to 9 to got placed. Only these students can sit in the placement. CU said that there are 150+ companies visit every year for the placement . I'm now' in second year I have never seen a placement event, but I have heard that regarding placement tehy claim that CU have 100% placement record but the truth is only some of the students got placed, some service based companies like TCS , Wipro who's doesn't give anything beyond 20 to 25kper month.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I completed my graduation in a BBA from this college. I feel like overall the teaching experience was totally good but it lacks some facilities that make a place a comfortable place to study for the students. The exams are easy to pass, the courses are completed on time.

Campus placements are not that good in Chandigarh University, although finding your own job is always an option, campus placements makes it easy to do so, but the package and the competition is tough to get through.
