NMIMS _Bengaluru: Brutally Honest

Dislikes

  • Infrastructure for sports, flexibility in attendance.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum of all the NMIMS colleges is exactly the same. It's competitive and a little at par with other similar colleges like Christ University and Symbiosis along with highly qualified PhD from both Indian and top American/British Universities. Passing the exam might be a little difficult as many students don't manage to get through in the first go.

Internships Opportunities :

Mostly people intern at foundations for charitable work such as the Each One Teach one program and other voluntary places. People have also been placed in banks like HDFC and JP Morgan and Wells Fargo. However, there are a few students who choose not to intern at corporate offices or volunteer but take time off to work on research projects and learn new skills from different online ed-tech platforms so that when they enter the workforce market they're at a better edge than others since a daily life at NMIMS doesn't really give us the opportunity to pursue another task hand in hand.

Placement Experience :

There are a few of the finest corporates that you'll see visiting the campus. Since this is a management college you'll see mostly banks like JP Morgan Chase & Goldman Sachs but lately, there has been an attempt to call more and more companies to the campus including the big4 to offer far more placements than before. The placement drive here used to be decent before the pandemic hit and companies backed off from the offers they had made to students however there's been an increase in the same from the past 2 years.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

There's no such fee hike other than the yearly increase of about 10-12k. Scholarship and financial aid aren't really possible here however the university has tied up with a few banks that provide us with loans.

Campus Life :

It's dull. The truth about any student studying in NMIMS is he doesn't has a social life or it comes to a great cost of sacrificing on your assignments unless you're too brilliant. However, the other amenities like books in the library and the high-tech amenities in the classroom are awesome in NMIMS. There were a few attempts made to organise the annual fest but to the great dismay of students it was pulled back last minute. However, there are great hopes for another fest getting organised this year.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel is not on campus. We've to take the college bus which takes us about 5km apart from where our hostel is situated. It has all the amenities including 4 time full course meals. Regular cleaning of all public and in-room spaces. The warden takes attendance every night before 11 pm and it's restricted to enter the hostel after 10 pm without prior notice if you'll be out. However, since this college is in the south the food is really one of the great deluxe one could enjoy if he/she decides to stay in the hostel.

Admission :

One can simply go to the NMIMS portal and apply there. The minimum mark required to apply to this college is 50% and thereafter they'll conduct entrance exams called the NPAT which will test 3 sections. Mathematics, Logic Reasoning & Data Interpretation. (Grade 12 level) Based on this they'll declare their merit list and we get to choose our preferred campuses and courses.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course - BSC in Anaesthesia technology and operation theatre technology which I'm pursuing has a good career option, best way to help people if you can't clear NEET, you'll get specialization in both anaesthesia and operation theatre which is good for you future placements. The curriculum is very knowledgeable as it is too hard and lenghty for average students. The exams are undoubtedly hard but is 100% from your syllabus.

Course Curriculum Overview:

This course's syllabus is very well structured. Each semester you learn a new topic and have practicals every week based on what you learnt in theory. Biotechnology is a very vast field so by the end of the course you have learnt a bit about the main areas of the subject which helps you choose the field for your higher studies. Exams are conducted twice per semester, mid sem and end sem. In between, there are internals or activities basically which will taken into account for your finals marks.

Placement Experience:

The students of the final semester are eligible for campus placements. Companies like Wipro, Infosys, Omega Healthcare, Biocon, Cognizant, TCS, Accenture, Magic Bus, Intelizign, Patanjali Health Institute, etc. The highest package my seniors were offered was around 15L/year and the average was 8L/year. Almost 60-80% of students got the campus placements. I want to get my master's degree completed and then try for Ph.D. and get into the research field.

Placement Experience:

There is a mandatory internship for students during the summer break after their 1st year of MSc. BASE Placement Cell (BPC) is responsible to look after the placement and internship opportunities for the students. However, the students need to opt-in for their service or they can handle it on their own. The first batch will graduate in the year 2022 and hence there is no placement record for the same.
