PGDM Finance - TIMSR

Remarks :

Applicants must appear for the state entrance exam ie the CET exam to be eligible for the course at TIMSR. Along with this, the applicant must score 50% aggregate marks in the graduation degree. The cutoff for the 2018 batch was 50%. Once you qualify for this, the shortlist is released and applicants must appear for the GD and PI rounds. The application can be done via the online method also and the link for the same is present on the official college website.

Course Curriculum Overview :

TIMSR focuses on a course curriculum that is focused on management skill development as well as personality development. This is a good management course provided by one of the reputed colleges in Mumbai. The student-faculty ratio is good around 13:1and the faculties are industry experts with 3-4 years of experience in the industry itself. There are also visiting faculty who conduct lectures and are very good at their teachings and examples.

Internships Opportunities :

After the first year, all students have to compulsory complete 2 months of internship as part of the course curriculum. For internship, many companies are brought to the campus like 99 acres, IMRB, Axis Bank, PepsiCo, CapGemini, etc and they also offer PPOs and PPIs. The roles are related to Market research, project management, stockbroking, company valuation, strategy building, etc.

Placement Experience :

Placement interviews start at the end of the third semester or the beginning of the fourth. More than 100+ companies come for final placement such as Nestle, ITC, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Pepsico, L&T, Amazon, Kotak bank, Capgemini, etc who offer various roles like management trainee, analysts, consultant, company valuation, etc. The highest package was 12L and the average salary is 7-8 L. Around 70-75% of students get placed in final placements.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fees for 2 years of PGDM was 9 lakhs which is commonly compared to other colleges as well. There are options for fee relaxation for some reserved students also. The college also provides scholarships for eligible students based on merit for fee reduction during admission. There are also merit scholarships for students in the second year who do well in the first year. There are also tie-ups with some banks for educational loans for the students for fee payment.

Campus Life :

TIMSR has many national and international conferences conducted for the benefit of the business students all year round. Other fests are Evoke, Ekvatam, and Pulse where Evoke is the annual intercollege fest for management, ekvatam is the cultural fest and pulse is a sports event. All are conducted on a grand scale and are very exciting to participate in and also watch. There are student bodies such as Student Council and clubs related to various filed such a marketing, finance, HR, etc.

Interview Experience :

There is a different weightage given to all parameters during admission. The CET score has the highest weightage but also the GD-PI round, the marks in 10th, 12th, and UG, and also extra curricular activities have weightage during the admission process. GD was conducted in groups of 8 with 2 panelists and topics are usually based on general knowledge or current affairs type of topics hence it is important that applicants must study these to do well in the GD. This is followed by the personal interview where they ask questions based on previous work experience, graduation, extracurricular activities, sports, etc so it is mostly based on resume.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The most important aspect of curriculum that i thought about before choosing this was they had more practical applications than theoretical teaching like they taught us Photoshop, Microsoft azure, and frequent master classes for Power BI. They prepare us to be job-ready and teachers also inform us about future roles and improvements. The college needs to improve by adding some subjects like operations in curriculum. The exams are conducted in trimester patterns exam in 3 months with CIA in between and 3 trimester in one year.

Placement Experience:

Every year 90% of the students get placed via college and 6.5 is the average package. There is less opportunity for HR and operations domains and the average package of finance domain is much higher than that of marketing. Big four for finance, banks, some FMCG companies and most of the startup visit our college.
