Remarks :
Since there was only 1 college available for Journalism in Nagpur, I directly applied for the same college & I got spot admission considering my percentage. Since I was late for the admission I did not fill the centralized admission form rather directly went to the college & authorities approved my admission. And as I belong to OBC category, I did get admission in same quota.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I did choose this field because it provides diversity in generating content, reports, and news for any field one finds interest in. One of the main reasons is also that journalism is a very broad field containing a lot of diversified job preferences including print media, electronic media & so on. We have a strength of total of 60 students. The faculties are really highly qualified & due to pandemics, we are currently getting taught digitally. Journalism is the only course which has an annual pattern & hence we only have 3 exams throughout this program of 3 years of BA. Yet, the exams are genuinely tough as it does contain a lot of general knowledge & current affair issues with history & background of media & and the advancements have taken place in this field.
Internships Opportunities :
Recently we got an internship offer in the government department at the media cell of South Central Zone Cultural Center, Nagpur and they really made sure that we've a good experience out of it. However, they did not provide us stipend but the internship was worthy enough to be done. Many other event management companies and printing departments offer the internship a regular basis to us. Recently the Flairs & Glairs publication is hiring interns at digital mode with assured stipend upto 1500/- per month depending upon our performance. But whatsoever be the internship, we are sure to get the certificate at its end with a remark about our performance & assuring that we devoted a particular period of time to their work offered.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
For a general category student, the fees is 28000/- per year however for me as an OBC candidate have a concession and hence the fees is 5500/-. However, due to pandemic, we got some extra concession which led to the fees being 4500/- and the concession was also for general category students. And the concession is only possible due to the scholarship we get from Central Government of India.
Campus Life :
We did not yet experience the campus life yet due to pandemic but so far we've socialized with seniors, I can state that the social life there is amazing with lot cultural & sports activities they offer. College also has NCC & NSS groups for interested students. And journalism students do have a field visit every to Delhi in order to learn & experience different aspects of Journalism. Also the campus contains playground, sports amenities, canteen, hostel facilities, gym & library for students.
