Melwin Vinod C's Review On CMR Institute Of Management Studies (Autonomous) - [CMRIMS], Bangalore

Entrance Preview :

I did not attend any entrance exams, i was determined to take BCA, and searched for "TOP 10 Colleges in Bangalore to study BCA". To my surprise CMR Institute Of Management Studies was in 4th or 5th.The fee structure was feasible and hence i opted for this college.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course which i have opted for is BCA,which is an excellent course which focuses on Information Technology(Computer Science). As i have interest in computers and programming ,i found the course easy and fun. As the college is autonomous the subjects varies with that of Bangalore University Syllabus and this college.

Internships Opportunities :

Yes, The college does provide stipend. Big giants like SAP Labs had come to our college campus, conducted an online test ,and those who cleared the test were asked to attend an interview at their campus. The stipend offered by SAP Labs was 15000 per month .

Placement Experience :

I plan to do my higher studies and hence not interested i jobs. But there are a good amount of placements in CMRIMS. Giants like Infosys, SAP Labs, IBM, L&T, Yodlee, Google and other companies visit this college for placements. The previous year the percentage of students who got placed were 100%.Only few colleges get placements like these.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee structure is feasible for BCA. The for my batch was 64600/- per year. Which comes around 193800/- for 3 years. Some high end colleges offer this course for an annual fee of nearly 1-1.5 Lac .But it all comes down to the marks and percentage obtained by the student irrespective of the college he studies in.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Yes, CMRIMS does have scholarship facility. The scholarship can be obtained by academics or government schemes. Students who excel in academics have obtained a scholarship amount close to 10k.

Admission :

I searched Google for the top 10 colleges in Bangalore which offer BCA degree .I found CMRIMS ,which was near to where i stay . The admission process was simple,i just walked up to the office, requested for the prospectus of BCA, was happy with the infrastructure and facility the college provides.

Faculty :

The lecturers are well qualified. The faculty are not too old nor too young ,hence they cope up with the students in a very friendly manner and understand students needs. But during our second year ,we had a lecturer who had completed "MPhil" but did not know how to handle students or "teach".The nest year the lecturer was removed .

Placement Experience:

Placement rates are good in our college, all you have to do on your part is perform well and study hard. Our college starts preparing you for interviews from the 4th semester itself by conducting various activities and programmers. Off college placements and on campus placements are both valuable because the college name is very reputed. And presidency holds good records of placements. Every year placement teams arrange different programs which prepares you for the recruitment process. Companies like Amazon, Wipro, Adobe also visits us. So just be determined and focused and you will get the best opportunity.

Srinivas University is one of the top college in Mangalore and it is the only college in Mangalore which provides highest number of courses. College infrastructure is great. Colleges follow greenery and good in cleanliness. The laboratories are well maintained with all the latest equipment. Facilities like library, sports room, hostel, Wi-Fi, ATM etc are provided by college.Fees structure is not such high compared to other colleges.

It is not a bad college at all but you must know exactly which course you are interested in and put maximum effort. The faculty members are approachable or at least most of them are and will help you if you ask them.

Not attend any entrance exam. I was not interested to attend the such exam more ever wanted to see people is use to study like any thing.

Placement Experience:

Placements are basically extended internships or work experience assignments. Industrial placements might form part of your course at university. Doing a placement as part of your course gives you the double whammy of work experience and education. Placements can increase your Employability (our favourite word) and help you when you’re entering the graduate job market.
