Entrance Preview :
I too AIEEE and was allotted this college in the second round of the Maharashtra State Engineering Allotment process. Chose this course over the college allotted to me in the first round as the Sinhgad group of institutions have a great reputation when it comes to Placements. Also, the picturesque location of the campus helped. There wasn't any sort of interviews or such processes involved.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course was based on the University(SPPU) syllabus. College had limited say in matters like what to teach and what not to. Also, the college lacked the infrastructure at the time to provide required equipment for the suggested practicals. Students had to depend on a sister institutions facilities often for performing experiments.
Internships Opportunities :
No, Any kind of Internships or Industry training should be arranged by the students. Even getting permission to attend such internships and training would be difficult as the staff here has a weird obsession over attendance.
Placement Experience :
The placement opportunities is good when you compare it to other institutions under the same university. The college invites many local industries over to conduct placement drives while the centralised placement of Sinhgad institutions also provides another window for students to get placed.
College Events :
Techtonic is the technical fest conducted by the college. Several useful seminars and events takes place every year enabling the students to get certificates to add to their profiles. The college also conducts "Spandan", the college fest which showcases several eye-catching performances by the budding artists. But the fest is generally low funded as the college feels such expenses are unnecessary.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
There are scholarships for Students coming from poor backgrounds and for students belonging to particular communities. Other than that, there aren't any scholarships provided for merit students. The basic educational loan facility is provided at the time of admission.
Hostel Facilities :
The Hostel rooms are just average and they only provide the basic necessities for the students. The quality of the furniture is appalling and the Wardens creates more problems than they solve. The mess food is just shocking, there is not enough words in any language to properly explain how bad the food is at every single one of the messes(quite literally) in the campus.
Exam Structure :
The exams again were according to University time table. The internal exams though were conducted as a Prelim to the final exams. Such exams lacked proper scheduling and took an unfair amount of time from what students require for self preparation (Which is crucial, given that the faculty isn't up to scratch).
Admission :
After I cleared the AIEEE exam, i applied fir MHCET counselling through DTE website, and submitted the required documents at the nearby counselling center. After I was allotted a college in first round, I opted not to join as the college wasn't to my taste and the course too was not my preferred one. Then I was allotted SKNSITS and was asked to report in the college with my documents.
Faculty :
The faculty, in general was below par. Almost everyone in the Mechanical Department lacked basic English speaking skills. They never really cared to try and make the students from different states feel comfortable as they spoke in the local language even while taking lectures. There were few experienced teachers who helped me with doubts.
