Remarks :
I did not apply for colleges other than ASCO, Noida for the course of B.A.(J&MC) as there are not many options under this course except for Symbiosis and some others. Another reason for not opting for other colleges was that I had more acquaintances in Amity to get familiarity about the college and location was also a key factor. Although the university provides a scholarship for merit students who have scored above 90 in their 12th boards, I did not avail any quota for admission. Scholarships provided by the college come with many terms and conditions and are not as straightforward as one might think. Aggregate marks for English and three other subjects are considered. Students should have passed in all subjects. Minimum age criteria are not specifically mentioned on their website. University calls for a written exam and interview held on the same day. The written exam tests your general ability with English and an interview is taken by the faculty of the same course.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I was particularly interested in media studies which led me to choose this course specifically. Although an individual section holds only about 50-60 students, ASCO accommodates thousands of students under different sections and courses such as BJMC International and Evening. Despite a huge lot, teachers are available for your queries and doubts outside the class. Most of the faculty is well qualified with PhD degrees and/or intensive experience in relative fields. Apart from qualification it majorly depends on the dedication of the faculty which is spread across a vast spectrum. Semester exams always followed the schedule and were conducted without any delay. Exams are relatively easy to pass.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Complete course cost me almost 8 lacs. Fees for 1st year was 1.25 lac each semester which hiked to 1.315 to 1.385 subsequently. Apart from college fees, major projects like ad. films and shows in later semesters will cost quite well. College provides scholarships to students with merit scores in 12th which is provided only for the 1st semester. University provides financial assistance, for example, exemption of fee during covid times, but doesn't really apply.
Campus Life :
Although Amity conducts Amity Youth Fest every year, we were not able to experience it in our 2018-21 session, initially due to sponsorship issues and later due to CoVid. Apart from the annual fest, we received two fresher's parties. One from the department and the other from the university as a whole. Fresher's party is conducted in the month of Sept-Oct. University has a central library that is state-of-the-art although the fiction section is quite compromised. Classrooms are equipped with projectors but take up almost the entire class to just set up. Classrooms are centrally conditioned during summers. There are clubs for literature, photography and theatre which are quite active and are run by the students of the same department. University has a great infrastructure for sports like football, table tennis and basketball. Although sports activities are only given emphasis during youth fest.
Interview Experience :
There was no GD for the admission process but only a brief written English test and an interview held by the faculties of the department. The admission process includes only these two rounds and an aggregate is considered as a whole. As long as you are aware of general news and have an idea about your course, one doesn't need to prepare for the entrance in particular. Questions regarding current affairs, general knowledge and related to the course are asked.
