Remarks :
I wanted to pursue my career in law, so I applied for Kurukshetra university and IGU, Meerpur. I cleared entrance exams for both of the universities, But Kurukshetra is far away from my native place, So i decided to opt for IGU, Meerpur. I availed for OBC quota, noncreamy layer. Admission criteria were as it is usually in many universities, Applicants got admission on a merit base with regard to reservation criteria, Anyone outside from Haryana is considered as a general candidate, There are usually 3 cutoffs. On the day of the counseling, you need to be present there with all the original documents for verification, In case of the absence of a few documents you may be awarded some time to arrange them, but this only depends on the will of the HOD of the department.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I wanted to be a lawyer all my life, This was the reason behind choosing LLB. There is definitely a need for recruiting more teachers, As the number of students is huge in comparison to the faculty provided. All the faculty members are well qualified at least with a bachelor's degree in law and that is the minimum academic requirement also. The teaching method is too boring, but students manage to study on their own. Exams are conducted on time with two semesters in each year. The difficulty level of the exams is a bit high as the exam sheets are been checked casually, So you may pass in a subject without any preparation and good attempt but also fail in the next one even after attempting and preparing for it really hard
Internships Opportunities :
You get to work in courts as a part of internships for atleast a month. The stipend is around 500 a day You get a good knowledge of the judicial machinery, How everything works there and gives you guidance for the future you are going to spend in those courts
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Fees for an OBC student is around 7-8K for an year, There is a slight or no hike in fees, The cost of study is not much, For other reserved categories there are many schemes, different fee patterns, You can get a scholarship if you have your attendance above 80% and belong to some reserved category. There is no campus placement, as it is obvious you need to work on your own in court or some consultancy
Campus Life :
There are many fests and parties almost every month, Every auspicious occasion and festival is celebrated. There is a scarcity for the availability of books, as the number is limited and if someone has borrowed a book then you have to wait for quite a time for that book to be available again. Sports and dance competitions, speech competitions, and many curricular activities are done at a good frequency There are more political groups as compared to social groups, No clubs are there but many pages and accounts are run by students
