Wonderful college that imparted me the education and responsibility.

Remarks :

College is of a decent standard though exposure to outside industry is a lot limited owing to probably where it is located. College management was good otherwise and the course had a decent standard and inculcated values.

Entrance Preview :

There was no entrance test at that time. I opted for this college since I lived in the same town where the college is situated and so my educational expenses would be a lot less also not having to spend for hostel fee.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Course structure was more academic with little focus on research. All courses were taught only to complete the subject and for students earn good marks. I had the option to join Honors elective course where I had to study four more subjects and they were very good like Aeronautics, Hydraulics, etc. which were good. But all in all there is not much Research activity.

Internships Opportunities :

No, there was no internship scheme at that time in my college, being also in a town that is not well known for industry but more trading related.

Placement Experience :

When I graduated, there were only few Engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu and so the number of students coming out of Engineering is smaller for the demand and hence it was not difficult to get placements. I got many interviews and also some jobs immediately and choose the better of the ones at that time.

College Events :

There was not much of any technical events. Cultural side, there was atleast the ones where the final year students offer part to the pre-final so those were memorable. There was on big Arts event where I could not participate since at that time I focused more to win on career not to fail but that event was very good. That cultural event is across most colleges around.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Fee structure was very very inexpensive at that time, if I remember correct I spent like only Rs. 500 per semester or so and is very affordable and since I studied as a day-scholar the expensive even further small to pay only the semester fee. I am not sure of the hostel fee but I stayed in hostel with my friends and they are generally ok and acceptable.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

There is no scholarship or loan from college but I availed bank loan from Canara bank which I later paid back.

Campus Life :

Gender ration is probably like men to women is 80 to 20 extracurricular activities included good sports where there were even some girl champions labs are good. There is not much politics. Ethinicity, race, religion are difficult to remember though there was definitely a mix of Hindus who are large in numbers and then some Christians and Muslims.

Hostel Facilities :

Hostel rooms are good, shared by 4 persons till pre-final, in the final year it is twin share. Food is generally good. since I was a day-scholar, I was not sure of how much fee for the hostel but I am sure it is not big and is very much affordable and especially for reserved candidates like SC, ST, etc. it is totally free.

Alumni/Alumna :

There is Alumni network but they are all informal and every your past Alumni only seem to run their own year collected groups and even those groups are trying to dominate on their own ego rather to develop the group and keep them interested. My experience later turned to keep away from such Alumni as the intentions were not good of the whole group.

Exam Structure :

There was Internal exam with practicals for 25% and the balance 75% is to cover the theoretical portions. Labs were well established for practical work and exams. Labs are well balanced to the theory part and exams and so it was not that difficult.

Admission :

Purely out of merit in the marks scored in the Higher Secondary Examination and I was selected for interview and then go PSG College Coimabatore owing to my mark ranking which is still considered a higher standard college than where I studied but I choose to swap between another student who got my college and wanted to go to PSG.

Faculty :

Faculty are qualified well to teach the subjects of their speciality. They were also keen and showed interest to teach, most of them and taught well. For example, some of the Mechanical Engineering subject staff are very good so I ended up teaching those subjects after joining work.

The campus placements start in the 7th semester. Due to the recession, there is a lot of backlash when it comes to placements. It has been quite poor for the last few years. But it depends on how the student is prepared for the competitive world.

Placement Experience:

Placement is good for the CSE and IT departments. You can't expect placement if you belong to other departments, there is a placement for the other departments but very less. Campus placement starts in 3rd year itself. They have special classes for Aptitude skills and interview preparation GD and necessary preparations for job placement opportunities. 90% of students from CSE and IT get placed. The average package is 7.5 LPA you can expect a minimum of 3.5 LPA. If you are willing to go for higher studies you can contact the international relation office they have good relations with other universities abroad, they have students exchange programs, research scholarships etc if you are not planning to seat in placement. I plan for higher studies and research after my Btech.

Placement Experience:

The placements in my college is very good and top companies hire students across every branch with a good amount of package. At the end of 3rd year every student is elegible for the placements in college. About 20 to 25 companies visited for campus hiring and approximately 700 offers were given across the college from every branch. 60 percentage of students got placed in the campus hiring program. Highest package is 24 LPA and the aveyis 5LPA. My plan is to get into a good MNC company which is related to Aerospace technology.
