Remarks :
I have applied for Thompsom Rivers University, Canada last year but due to the pandemic I opted for distance learning and CIIS provides pathway programs. So, this was a really good deal for me. I didn't have to spend more and was staying at my home and was studying. I had to do to the campus in January'21 and there I met students from other fields too. My counselor suggested to me about CIIS and even my family members who stay at Fatehgarh. My counselor was from WWICS. The admission criteria were very simple, I got my admission on the basis of my marks because I scored 90+. I didn't even have to give an interview. I was selected on the basis of my marks.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I opted for a Bachelor of computing science. My course duration is 2+2. 2 years here at CIIS and 2 years at Thompson Rivers University. I opted for this course because I wanted to pursue software engineering from my childhood and now I am actually fulfilling my dream. Coming to the faculty, the faculty here are really good, they take the pain and they are more like a mother to the students. Coming to the principal, Aman ma'am is a really good teacher one will ever meet. She is gold of heart. She is very sweet. Our teachers have done Ph.D. in their fields, so this is the best part because we gain a lot of knowledge from them. Our college semester is more like a trimester because it works according to the Canadian System of Education. So, 1 year of college here has 6 months. each sem is 3 months long and exams for each sem twice. Med-Terms and Final Terms. In total 2 midterms occur and 2 final terms for 1 year.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The total fee for 1 year is 420000. But since I received a scholarship, my fees were 360000. On the basis of marks one score in 12th, the scholarship is provided. The cost of books for 1 year is 10000. And if one opts to stay in the hostel then it is 5000/month.
Campus Life :
Coming to the yearly fest, the yearly fest's title is 'Jashan'. It happens every year, various activities happen in this fest. It is like an annual day. Not only this but various other celebrations also takes place here like Canada Day, Diwali Celebration, Christmas and New year Celebration, Baisakhi Celebration, Lohri Celebrations, and other celebrations too. The library here is fast, it's home to many books. One can directly go and study there and also can issue a book easily. The sitting area at the library is very big, many students can sit and read there at one time. The classrooms are fully modern ones, it has digital class, and is fully air-conditioned. As for sports activities, there's a gym for males and females, a basketball court is there, and also a vast ground is there where various sports can be played. Sports equipment is available there. As such during the last year, there was no social group of students present here.
Hostel Facilities :
I opted for the hostel. The hostel life is good. There's no entry of boys in the girl's hostel. Even there is a lady guard who stays in the hostel at night. The facilities that are provided in the room are a twin sharing bed [if one doesn't want to share the room that can also be done], Almira, electric switches with bedside, a study table, 2 pin-boards. Other facilities are a hot shower, tv room, gym. Ac rooms are also available. After 6 pm the main door of the girls' hostel is locked till 7:30. And it opens for an hour, from 7:30-8:30 for dinner, and then it's locked again till morning 7 am. The registration process is easy it just needs ID proof, college ID, and 2 photographs. And as security 4000 is taken, which is returned at the time of leaving the hostel. Coming to the food, food is sometimes good and sometimes bad. There's a good variety of ready-to-eat snacks available there. Even the price of food is reasonable. They offer the best shakes.
