My college experience

Remarks :

I applied to many universities like VIT, BITs Pilani but ultimately the results came for JEE Mains though I had a good score couldn't gt CSE in any NITS, IITS so I went for top private institutes and fortunately got selected in SRM for CSE with specialisation in cloud computing. The selection process consists of SRMJEEE then counselling day as per ranking in the exam then sub-slots for course selection from the available courses on your turn. Minimum marks criteria were for 12th class% and it is 60% and then SRMJEEE rank and on the counselling day you will have to carry a draft of 2.5 lacs for CSE as advance payment to confirm your slot.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Faculty members here are very knowledgeable and experienced. The syllabus is very relevant with C in the 2nd semester and C+ and DSA in the 3rd semester and Python and other tech subjects in the 4th semester. Teachers are quite helpful but some are strict too but they too have to follow the management rules. I choose this course because of the opportunities in this field. Exams happen on a cycle basis of 20 days known as CTs. Small portions come in each test followed by practical tests as well.

Placement Experience :

Placements play a crucial role in college selection so here is the truth placement is nearly 100% but never 100% either on or off-campus. All the top-notch companies from Amazon to Paytm provides various packages ranging from 6 lacs per annum to 40 lacs per annum. Companies like Microsoft, Facebook and big tech giant always offer dream offers of 12 lacs and above packages. Then companies like Infosys, cognizant and Accenture offer good packages and are the mass recruiters in the offer of 3 lacs per annum and above. The internship fair is being organised every end semester with all the different opportunities. Internship opportunities are also there followed by hackathons and various tech and non-tech competitions.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fees structure for each campus for each respective courses are different but it's the most expensive in KTR campus as its the main campus and is the most functional campus and the best campus in term of placements. Fees for my course i.e CSE with Cloud Computing it is 2.5 lacs but for students above 12k rank in SRMJEEE, it is 3.5 lacs. Various scholarships are available on the basis of rank and 12th marks as well as JEE mains ranking one can check them on their official website.

Campus Life :

The attendance rule of 75% is too strict. Events, fests are being organised almost every week something or other nothing is going on in the college with various clubs and hackathons and competitions being held. Aarush and Milan are the two big fests in the college. Restaurants are inside and outside the campus and are super affordable and delicious food is available. SRM hospital is nearby at walking distance from both girls and boys hostel. Infrastructure is at its best, classrooms are spacious and each department has its own building but in the first-year University building if for all.

Hostel Facilities :

Infrastructure and hostels are the best things about the college. Various room options are available in the college and also connectivity is super awesome from buses to autos everything is available. Wi-Fi speed is top class. Mess food is good too. Don't believe the rumours about mess food it only happens in 3rd class colleges. Here you will get fresh options every day from south Indian to north Indian. The different menu each day and different fruits and snacks each day. Hostel types can be checked from the university portal and one can opt for flats or PGs too they are super affordable as you will be staying with room partners and then there are socities like Estancia and Abode near SRM at walking distance to fake rented rooms as per your choice.

The campus placements start in the 7th semester. Due to the recession, there is a lot of backlash when it comes to placements. It has been quite poor for the last few years. But it depends on how the student is prepared for the competitive world.

Placement Experience:

Placement is good for the CSE and IT departments. You can't expect placement if you belong to other departments, there is a placement for the other departments but very less. Campus placement starts in 3rd year itself. They have special classes for Aptitude skills and interview preparation GD and necessary preparations for job placement opportunities. 90% of students from CSE and IT get placed. The average package is 7.5 LPA you can expect a minimum of 3.5 LPA. If you are willing to go for higher studies you can contact the international relation office they have good relations with other universities abroad, they have students exchange programs, research scholarships etc if you are not planning to seat in placement. I plan for higher studies and research after my Btech.

The placements in my college is very good and top companies hire students across every branch with a good amount of package. At the end of 3rd year every student is elegible for the placements in college. About 20 to 25 companies visited for campus hiring and approximately 700 offers were given across the college from every branch. 60 percentage of students got placed in the campus hiring program. Highest package is 24 LPA and the aveyis 5LPA. My plan is to get into a good MNC company which is related to Aerospace technology.
