SRMIST and Reality

Remarks :

The admission process is through the SRMJEEE exam and the courses available are based on the counseling schedule of the particular rank range and are subject to the availability of seats. After you get a certain rank in SRMJEEE you are provided a date. You have to carry a draft of advance fees for your particular course and then you have to report to the nearest branch of the university. Reaching there you will have to wait for your turn then you submit the required documents and choose from the available courses.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Teachers are supportive yet strict about the assignments and the test. The decorum and hierarchy have to be maintained. Some are really strict but some are understanding and help you in all aspects. This is one of the best courses in the world and also in this college. It gives you industry-level lab experience with real-life machines and projects to work upon on weekly basis and regular tests make it more challenging. The student-teacher ratio is not very clear but there are several faculties for a particular subject. I choose this course because it was my field of interest and CSE is the most demanding field nowadays. Cycle tests were conducted on an interval of 20 days and similarly for practical exams but their weightage is very less and these small test helps you to maintain your marks very easily and the burden of exams reduces significantly,

Internships Opportunities :

Internship opportunities come every now and then in our college and through online platforms, as well its sometimes course related internship sometimes workshop associated internships and most famous is the hackathons associated internships they are the most reliable and comes with better opportunities. Yet internship fair is there with most companies coming in our college and providing internships in various field with attractive job offers and stips along with experience and on project workings. Real-time projects vary from field to field yet some are web dev, application dev, social media marketing, and many more.

Placement Experience :

Placements entirely depend on the course and the preference the college gives to that particular course, CSE is one of them in our college. We get placement offers ranging from 4 lacs per annum to dream packages like 20 lacs per annum. Companies most popular being mass recruiters like Infosys, cognizant, Accenture but they also give dream offers but the numbers are limited. Then the course-related companies like Philips, HTC, Samsung, etc also visit the college in the placement seasons. Also, a lot of opportunities are there in the internship fairs which are being held every semester. Startups are also funded here. Then comes the tech giants with super dream offers like Amazon, Microsoft but their test is difficult which is acceptable. We become eligible for placements from our 7th semester. Super dream offers are 30 lacs and above and it keeps changing from year to year. Mostly 90% of students have placed yet it's never very clear whats the exact number of students it's always a round-off.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fees structure is slightly expensive than the government colleges but then it is the case of every private institute and the fees for CSE and specializations is 2.5 lacs and for students above 12k rank in SRMJEEE it increases to 3.5 lacs and then comes the hostel charges which ranges from 1 .2 lacs to 2.2 lacs according to your preference and affordability. Our University provides various scholarships on the basis of 12th marks and JEE Mains rank and SRMJEEE rank and full fees waive off for the toppers. Financial assistance in terms of loans and fee payments in installments is good too. Job offers here are pretty good and all opportunities you get to make your career a success.

Campus Life :

College life is a blessing in a student's life and so is here. The atmosphere is full of enthusiasm and the whole campus is covered with trees, also it is well connected. The library is the main University Block of the University and is fully air-conditioned and peaceful. All books and even computer systems are accessible and you can stay inside till 3 am and it's the best place to study during exams. Classrooms definitely have the projectors and all but the most effective methods still remain the blackboard and chalk method. Sports and Extra-Curricular activities keep happening every now and then. Sports quota is there, various tournaments keep happening. All the clubs of the college are extremely good and you will have a very good experience and exposure both personal and professional and it also increases your social bonding. The various technical and non-technical club exists to name some of the IEEE, DSC, Akashlabs, DAA, UNDER25, AWS, etc.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements start in the 7th semester. Due to the recession, there is a lot of backlash when it comes to placements. It has been quite poor for the last few years. But it depends on how the student is prepared for the competitive world.

Placement Experience:

Placement is good for the CSE and IT departments. You can't expect placement if you belong to other departments, there is a placement for the other departments but very less. Campus placement starts in 3rd year itself. They have special classes for Aptitude skills and interview preparation GD and necessary preparations for job placement opportunities. 90% of students from CSE and IT get placed. The average package is 7.5 LPA you can expect a minimum of 3.5 LPA. If you are willing to go for higher studies you can contact the international relation office they have good relations with other universities abroad, they have students exchange programs, research scholarships etc if you are not planning to seat in placement. I plan for higher studies and research after my Btech.

At the end of 3rd year every student is elegible for the placements in college. Highest package is 24 LPA and the aveyis 5LPA. My plan is to get into a good MNC company which is related to Aerospace technology.
