Remarks :
Overall college life was great, enjoyed with whatever was available. There were amazing field trips which strengthened the bond between teachers and students. Made amazing lifetime friends, learnt professional lifestyle and developed lots and lots of skills. It was pretty good even with the high requirement of attendance and assignment.
Entrance Preview :
I gave AIEEE 2012 and got a rank around 38000. I scored 153 and took admission cause it had reasonable prospects and I didn't wish to take drop year.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Course curriculum is great academically. Everyone gets a chance to do research once as minor project. People can also do separate research not in curriculum under guidance of professors. Course content is good, except in some cases, where we we have to study things which we are never going to use.
Internships Opportunities :
NO, my college does not provide internship to undergrads, whereas stipend is given to M. Tech students for research.
Placement Experience :
The placement opportunities are average. Mechanical, computer science, Information Technology and electronics and communication guy gets placed easily with better packages, whereas others struggle. Decent no. of companies came this year, but still more were from tech side.
College Events :
There are two major events. NU-TECH, Gujarat's biggest technical fest, participants from all over nation are invited. Other is Horizon, cultural fest, held by Nirma University's Rotaract club. There are various smaller events going on throughout the year, like sports events, workshops, quizzes, department level events etc.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Fee structure is expensive provided that they do not provide accommodation facilities for under graduates. Though infrastructure is good and various lab equipment are provided. They do not have proper space in canteen. People struggle every day. Although they do have rich content library.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Scholarship is available taking in account the following merit, caste and father's salary. There is a special facility, Book Bank, which provides the same.
Campus Life :
Campus life was great till 4 pm, that's when lectures ended and everyone leaves for their respective homes. Gender ratio is on higher side, with mechanical engineering having highest and computers having lowest. There was no need of any tolerance, at least students didn't use to think in that way.
Hostel Facilities :
I do not have first-hand experience with hostel facility as they do not provide accommodation to undergraduate students. But I have seen pg student's hostel from outside and they look pretty decent, but there are is no air conditioning even though Gujarat is such a hot and humid state. Mess food is great. You get quality food in less rupees.
Alumni/Alumna :
Every there is an event where all alumni are invited. There are guest lecture from alumni who have now gained some experience in their respective fields.
Exam Structure :
Exam structure is covered in two phases. Firstly, continuous evaluation (weightage 60%) which contains lab assignments, viva, innovative assignments, mid semesters and two class tests. Second is semester end examination (weightage 40%). You cannot sit in semester ends if you fail continuous evaluation.
Faculty :
College Faculty is good. Most teachers are M. Tech. or PHD or pursuing PHD. Experienced teachers have developed good ways of teaching, while it can be seen new teachers struggle. The only catch is that when teachers speak in English, whereas they could explain the same thing so many times beter in Hindi.
