Entrance Preview :

I took the Common entrance test to get in to admission for Bachelor of Engineering. I got a ranking of 3800 as we dont get the marks in the entrance exam. The only option I got in my home town for electonics stream was in VVIET . So I had to opt for it.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Course curriculum was good with lot of electives in the final year with current relevant subjects as well. The first year was a general year with common subjects for all streams of Engineering with Chemistry, Physics etc. The specialization starts from the second year the specialization subjects start with subjects like VLSI, Networking etc.

Internships Opportunities :

I did the college internship program at NAL Bangalore. Stipend was not offerd. The topic was design of flight data simulator for NALs helicopter. We used Visual basic as front end and MS access as back end.

Placement Experience :

Placements were not there at the time when we studied. So we had to go out of campus to hunt for jobs. We struggled a lot after we passed out as we had to go to Bangalore for hunting jobs and the year 2002 was a year just after recession so jobs in technology were hard to come by.

College Events :

The college celebrated an annual day with cultural programs in it. There weren't any other programs apart from the annual day. Students who had interest participated in them.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Fee structure was cheap by todays standard with Rs 8000 per semester. I finished my engineering with just Rs 32000 as it was a free government seat. Fees had to be paid every year so it was Rs 4000 per semester. Now a days the free seat has gone up to Rs 32200 per year.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

There were no loan /scholarships provided. One had to go to a bank and approach them for the loan. Even the bank wanted a guarantor for the loan.

Campus Life :

Gender ratios were healthy with 60-65% boys and 35-40% girls. Since hostel was not there, there weren't any hostel parties. We used to have workshops on carpentary, chemicals, electronics, graphics etc. The college had diverse cultures with students coming from across India. Even the students were from different economic status . Overall it was a healthy mix of race, caste and creed.

Alumni/Alumna :

The alumni network is not strong as VVIET is relative new college.Since the batch I studied was the 2nd batch to pass out. However the alumni network might have improved now of which I am not a part of.

Exam Structure :

Exams were a semester scheme with 2 semesters each year. So a total of 8 semesters in the 4 year course. No the exams and labs were not so hectic.

Faculty :

Since the college was new not many experienced teachers were available. However there were some good teachers as well. Overall the coaching was average.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I wanted to do my engineering in well known college and in the branch of Computer science. So I joined this college... They have their own syllabus which come from the main branch (i.e, manipal). Course curriculum and teaching methods are up to a high level..

Course Curriculum Overview:

As I'm in 1st semester. I will update you after my exams. But one good thing is that from this year, internals and externals will hold same weightage i.e., 50/50 If you can score more than 45% in internals which wouldn't be that big of a deal because they'll ask most the questions from class notes. Most of the faculties are average I would say. But some are good professors too. I chose CSE because I find these topics interesting since junior school. And everyone is just jumping into cse is a reason too lol.

Remarks:

Well it was a emerging glorious institution, so I chose it. Also it has good facilities with good experience of atleast 10 years in the field of education. The infrastructure of my university is excellent. It has all the facilities needed for the overall development of a student. Although it us situated little of the city, it is totally worth the travel.
