Remarks :
The faculty, campus life are really good. As is we say "Joka is an experience" it is 100% true. It is an emotional roller coaster. There are times when we may give up but the Joka tribe is always there to hold you back. The infrastructure of the Hostels can be improved.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The curriculum is designed very genuinely. All the courses in the first 2 semesters are related to the basic understanding of the Business Ecosystem. Basics of Marketing, Finance, Organisational Behavior, Political History of India are covered initially. Later in the second year, we can choose our own subjects and can Major in any division.
Placement Experience :
I can only talk about the summer internships as I went through that process only. It is a week-long process with all the reputed companies across India coming for selections. We had really great opportunities this year. I am interning at Samsung India in an operations led the project.
College Events :
Starting with, there is a induction program of all the clubs, followed by club inductions. Major events of our college include remini - Annual Alumni meet, Intersection sports, Inter Hostel Sports, Intaglio - Annual Business Fest, Sangarsh - Annual Sports meet, 7 Lakes Run - Annual sports+cultural event. Apart from them there are many club activites going on through out the year.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
It is obvious that the fee structure of MBA is expensive. But the finance assistance which we receive from the banks is really good. So there is no need to worry about the availability of money. The fee payment modes include DD, Online transfer. Mostly the bank's from which we have availed the loan takes care of the process. We need to pay the mess fee every month to the college.
Fees and Financial Aid :
I have availed the education loan from PNB. The bank has contacted me before reaching my college. So I have submitted all the required documents before joining. So they availed the loan right from the first semester.
Campus Life :
The Campus of IIM Calcutta is really beautiful and has 7 lakes in it. It has spectacular views and has the most lovable campus life. Gender diversity is pretty good. The overall diversity is not very high as most of us are engineers. There is a finance lab in IIM C. Sports, extra circular activities are done across the year.
Hostel Facilities :
For the first year the hostel allocation process is random. For the second year the selection is given to the students where they can choose the hostel. All the 4 hostels available are single rooms. 2 hostels are occupied by girls and boys, while 2 hostels are only for boys.
Alumni/Alumna :
We can interact with our alumni mostly in our internships or in Alumni meets. They are pretty helpful if we talk to them. But mostly we don't get to meet them very often. Coming to the seniors, they are really helpful. Mainly during the placement process, sports meet and case competitions.
Admission :
The CAT exam application form will be released where you have to pay an application fee based on your category. The exam will be most probably held in December of the year. After the results, the candidates will be given a percentile. Based upon the percentile all the calls will be released by January of the next year. You have to prepare for the PI and WAT. Mostly all the IIM's PI will be held in March-April. In the last week of April mostly the results will be declared as Selected, Waitlisted, Rejected.
Faculty :
Faculty of IIM C is one of the top-notch. They also have very huge research works, papers, and experiences that are world-class. Most of them are graduated from the esteemed Business schools of India. The Finance, Operations, and Organisational Behavior professors are best in India.
