Remarks :

As you can see from my answers, I have largely positive views for my College. However, that doesn't take away the fact that Ramjas might not be a smooth sail for all the students, hence I would request the reviewer not to generalise my answers! On the whole, I would like Ramjas to be slightly more accepting of its fellow students, of its fellow peers and not judge/discriminate. Thank you.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The English Literature course at Delhi University is brilliant. I have read so much by so many authors, and such diversity in the course is something I never expected. From reading Kalidasa to Homer, to Samuel Coleridge's legendary essay, I have really come a long way. I also never thought I would be reading Dostoevsky's 'Crime and Punishment' because it always felt like an 'academic' book. The exam structure is on the whole, alright except for the fact that the marking system tends to be very, very opaque which is something that has gotten on my nerves from time to time. Internals account for 20 percent of your total marks, along with 5 percent for attendance. Apart from that, 75 percent is attributed to your performance in the semester exams. The semester exams tend to get a little exhausting because in 'theoretical' subjects like English Literature or History and the like, answers have to be crafted well with quite a bit of detail.

Placement Experience :

The Placement Cell at Ramjas has really taken off this year (2019-20) so that bodes well for me as I am graduating this year itself. However, the only problem is that it gets slightly difficult to keep track of things and opportunities. Another downside is that most companies or/and institutions tend to hire Commerce or Economics students, leaving us Literature students to either look towards Masters and subsequently, research or try our hand at journalism or sometimes, join the MBA bandwagon. Stipends for a Bachelor Graduate tends to be very low, with hardly any companies offering more than 6-7 lakhs per annum.

College Events :

Our Annual College has never been upto the mark, when compared to SRCC or Hindu or any of the numerous DU institutes. But, we more than make up for this with the events held by the individual societies of the College, such as by the History Department, the Enactus team, or the Dance Festival. We also have talks organised regularly, the most recent one being a talk by Amitav Ghosh, this January. Kamla Bhasin is due to grace our College in late February. When it comes to participation, it is usually high because Ramjas is located right at the heart of North Campus, Delhi University. Also, Ramjas is famous for being a College forever accomodating, although that can be notoriously double-edged. Overall, as they say, "Ramjas, meri jaan". As far as I know, no 'technical' fests are held, although The Economics does hold something related to it. The Annual Sports Fest - Jazbaa, is also a big hit, particularly and heart-warmingly for the differently abled students.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

With around 10,000 charged for one semester, the whole of College education's expenses can roughly amount to around 1 lakh considering exam fees, books and study material fees, coaching etc. So, since I hail from a financially alright family, it's very feasible. However, I have friends and know of countless people who do face problems. However, the good thing is that Ramjas charges one of the lowest fees in Delhi University. Also, the course matters too. Overall, it's tough to get the fees go down, but what can be done is that expenses for the students can be reduced by the administration. Very subtle difference.

Fees and Financial Aid :

According to my knowledge, there is none. However, what I can do is ask someone from the Student Board or the Ramjas Placement Cell, and get back to your institution either by filling a new questionnaire or writing directly.

Campus Life :

The Sports Department is really good, with the Taekwondo, Shooting and Chess teams one of the best in the Circuit. When it comes to redressal for issues such as sexual abuse or bulling, Ramjas has an Internal Complains Committe (ICC), a very respected society which is doing a lot for the students. We just want to make Ramjas a safer space, particularly for women, and boys who are vulnerable or people belonging to the differently abled or LGBT+ community. People belonging to the lesser end of the economic status line are in abundance at Ramjas and although targeted by the 'richer' guys sometimes, on the whole, it's pretty cool, with harmony playing a big role too. Ramjas is famous for its politics scene and becomes a hotbed during the annual College elections in September. Although the whole of Delhi University conducts elections in their respective Colleges, all eyes are on only two institutions - Ramjas, and Law Faculty. With that said, Ramjas is a unique blend of people, of cultures, of linguistic diversity and if only the world come to knowand live with each other the way Ramjas students have, how could we ever go to war again?

Hostel Facilities :

I am not the best person to answer this since I reside with my father at New Delhi itself. I need to go to College everyday from South Delhi, and hence I was planning to take up a room at a PG, but that kept getting delayed and since I am in my final year now, it makes no sense to shift to a PG anymore.

Alumni/Alumna :

Not in my experience although there have been accounts of alumni helping out current students, as far as I have heard. However, even if there's not much help, it's understandable considering the fact that seniors or graduates too have to carve out lives of their own and might just not have the time.

Admission :

Ramjas was never my first choice. I always wanted Economics honors from either Shri Ram College of Commerce, Stephens, or as a last resort, Hindu College. But life happened, best of 4 was only 95.25 for me (scored cent per cent in Eco though), and I ended up with English Hons at Ramjas. When it comes to the admission process, it was smooth except for the fact that one had to wait long hours for signatures and approvals despite long queues being absent. The teachers clarified a lot of doubts during admission itself, so that helped.

Faculty :

Ramjas has gotten one of the best English Department faculties in the University also, arguably the country. Permanent teachers tend to be slightly better than ad-hoc (contract-based) teachers though. We have some faculty members such as Debraj Mookerjee and Vinita Chandra, teachers who would easily become professors at schools like Harvard. However, of course, we also have faculty who don't come anywhere close to that level.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The ba programe here is little different from other colleges accross the country. The curriculum is quite diversified. If you are intrested in arts , there is lot to learn. If one want to become writter or any thing related to literature , or want to become historian , geo-politics expert, etc. The course is quite good. The exams held every four and a half or five months and the difficulty level is moderate.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Like this course is about rights and authorities which is very important for everyone nowadays and specially when you are a girl so that nobody couldn't dominate you. We read about what were the past sceniors towards the lower castes or women which is also happens in most of the states and cities but this curriculum taught us whats the reality of the world and how to be independent and how to protest for our rights . Even we can more learn about this if the faculity organises those things via presentation or streamings with some videos so it will be more helpful in our exams too!!

Course Curriculum Overview:

Coming to english hons I had a little different expectations and this turned out to be a little different, This course is too much till where I have studied is inclined towards literature which sometimes students do not like. There are many subjects inside the core, but subjects like literary studies caught lot of attention due to it's attractiveness and different perspectives. Sometimes things go a lot off syllabus which disrupts mindful learning but thankgod it's just 30-40% of it.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is not updated . Teachers uses old method of teaching on pen and paper. Like in statistics now various tools are available in market and instead of making us learn those tools teachers are teaching the most basic things on pen and paper. But the course is very demanding nowadays.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is basically design to study economics in a depth so that the understanding of student related to world economic, how economics work , how it affect an individual etc increase and he can work more efficiently to give theories and work in the companies related to economics. The curriculum includes value added course and skill enhanced courses that help us to learn different types of skills that are required in the real world applications. Improvement in these can be done by asking the student to apply all these into real life and connect students with the real life approaches related to the course. For core subjects the timing of paper is 3 hours and for sec and vac courses the timing of paper is 1 hour.
