Life in a Deemed Govt University

Remarks :

My college was good in terms of food, hostel amneties, campus, and social circle. But it lacked good opportunities and exposure to opportunities. Also, there should be some transport facility inside college campus.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course structure majorly was based on theory. The labs and exams were also there, but it was both chilled and hectic. It was like you have to maintain your attendance, your lab files and you're good to go.

Placement Experience :

The placement and job opportunities were fine. Not that great. But majorly all the students got placed. The package were not that high, since majorly the mass recruitment happened. The college didn't provide internship.

College Events :

The annual college fest where there were dance, singing, acting. The Cult Electronica fest which was dedicated to the Electronics society. The Alumini meet for the annual Alumini meet. The annual college fest was a 3 day function and people used to come in large numbers. The state sports minister would be the guest of honor. The CM of the state came at the Alumni meet to award the children with their graduation certificate.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Since it as Deemed Govt University, the fee structure was very feasible. I think my overall expenses for 4 years including fees and hostel expenses would be around 3 lakhs maximum and that too including all expenses.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Kashmiri migrants had a school of 6000 for the first semester. But it was scraped going forward. Also, there was a little fees exempted for people whose families incomes were less. Many of my friends availed that benefit.

Campus Life :

There were many extra curricular activities running throughout the year. There were sports clubs, dance, acting and dining clubs as well like badminton, basketball, chess, Western dance, bhangra, acting clubs, electronic clubs.

Hostel Facilities :

They were fine. Water supply and food was good. The mess had nominal charges. Electricity issue was hardly there. The campus was very big. To travel from one corner to another was an issue in summer but sometimes rickshaws were available.

Alumni/Alumna :

The company where I'm working currently, my second round of interview was conducted by an alumni of our college. He was very helpful. I got selected in that company and am currently working for it. So yes, they're helpful.

Admission :

I had passed my 12th board exams. I also appeared for AIEEE because that is how one got admission in colleges at that time. My rank in the exam was not that good. But since I'm a Kashmiri Pandit, we have a seat reserved in some colleges which is then allocated on merit basis. I had a good percentage in my 12th standard and my rank in this merit basis was high. My parents didn't want me to go very far away from home so I filled out Haryana's form and got into B. tech ECE branch in Deenbandhu ChhotuRam University of Science and Technology, Murthal, Sonepat. I had also got IT stream in Jammu - MBCET but I knew that the placement chances were less if I stayed in Jammu. So, I went for Haryana since the branch and college both had better future opportunities.

Faculty :

The faculty was well trained and had a good experience. But I didn't feel that the faculty focussed more on the experimenting part. They used to come to the class, teach their lesson and just leave. I wish I had more push and enthusiasm from my teachers side to explore my stream. They was very less exposure to what's going on in the world in our stream.

The placement status of the in Bandhu chotu Ram University of Science and technology is quite poor and it is getting poor day by day because less companies visit the campus for on campus placement so mostly the students have to look up to or look for of campus placements or other career options like Gate cat or other government examination

Remarks:

Situated on the Delhi Jaipur highways, Starex, an UGI grants college is a haven for studies regarding any discipline, you name it, with an excellent faculty base and placement record. It equally supports sports and cultural talent apart from academics.
