Remarks :

Govt. Ayurveda college, Thiruvananthapuram is the biggest ayurveda college in the country with the most number of in patients, which helps the students to understand different aspects of treatment specifically. One negative remark to specify is that the college is divided into a number of campuses which are located at different parts of the city. So students find it difficult to have an expected college life.

Placement Experience :

The college provides one year internship to the students as mentioned in the curriculum. During the internship period a student is posted at all the departments and also the General hospital, Trivandrum and Mental hospital, Oolampara located at trivandrum itself. 1.5 months out of 1 year of internship is allocated for rural posting during which the student is allocated to any dispensaries of Kerala as per his/her wish.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Fee structure is feasible. The annual fee of the institution is just 10,000 rupees. Hostel fee along with mess charges comes under 2500 rupees per month. Books are taken by students union together at discounted rates. Book rates per year is almost 3000.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The college provides scholarships for students of backward communities and other elegible communities. It also provides scholarships for foreign students as a measure of promoting ayurveda across the world.

Campus Life :

Extra curriculars activities are at its best at the college. The college stands in the top 5 list in a total of 150 colleges coming under the Kerala University of health sciences. Activities from arts and sports are well fuelled by the students union of the college.

Hostel Facilities :

It provides the best hostel facilities. Infrastructure is better than almost all hostels of Kerala. The men's hostel has enough and more space but the women's hostel are congested, mostly because girls form a big majority of the student population.

Alumni/Alumna :

Yes. The college is 130 years old and has an alumini association with more than 1000 active members. It is active and is of great support to the students in various activities related to both academics and extra curricular activities

Admission :

Admission to BAMS courses in govt. colleges are entirely based on merit in KEAM (Kerala Engineering and Medical Entrance Examination). The entrance examinations are held on the month of April every year along with other entrance tests (including AIPMT, AIEEE, JEE, ICAR etc). Allotments are given based on ranks secured in the KEAM examination. A total of three allotment procedures are present after which students are admitted based on number of seats present in college.

Faculty :

Govt. Colleges have well trained and experienced faculties both in field of teaching and treatment. Faculties are mostly selected by the exams conducted by the Public Service Commission of the state. The minimum qualification of a professor was a post graduate degree but recently it was upgraded to a PhD.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I think we have a best curriculum. It includes all the aspects of the medical science. It includes some irrelevant topics like miscellaneous also. But it's good for us to learn about that all. There is internal exams as well as yearly exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

i really like the modern approach of this course. the way it's modern but also keeping it to ancient way of treatment is quite wondrous to me. really like the new curriculum, as it increase our engagement withe the course and the required patient-doctor approach. i think the exam aspect could be improved, as we give exam every month, then term exams twice, then one university exam. the difficulty level is only upto the terminal exams in my opinion.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I Chose this Course as it is Emerging more Effective in the past Few Years and I believe I could contribute more in this field. Moreover I was Interested in the Ancient Cultural form and the uniqueness of the Science of Ayurvedic Medicines and Treatment Methods. There are 14 Departments in the College including Both Clinical and Non Clinical aspects. Each Department Has about 6-7 Faculties Incuding HOD, Assistant and Associate Professors. At Present there are 5 batches of Students in the Undergraduate Course Excluding the House Surgeons. So about 360 Stuents total. There are about 200 Students in Various Post Graduate Course. The Faculties are appointed through Government Exams and Interviews and are Eligible after the BAMS degree and PG Qualification in respected departments with Experience of teaching. The method of teaching is very Systematic with periodic assessments. As per new NCISM rule term Exams are once in each 18 months and Can be passed through Systemic studying and activity.
