Remarks :

For a medical student resources are plenty here. You can see and experience even the very rare diseases where other colleges don't have. Patients coming here are also very cooperative towards the students and allow us to examine and study. Practical knowledge get from here is priceless.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Course curriculum is the best: Overall you have to study 15 subjects such as Anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, microbiology, pharmacology, forensic medicine, ENT, ophthalmology, Community medicine, Medicine, Surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, orthopedics. The course is 4 and a half year duration and one year house surgeoncy. Exams will have theories and practicals. First year subjects such as Anatomy physiology and biochemistry have two theory papers eachand practicals separate. Forensic medicine, ENT, Ophthalmology, paediatrics have only one paper each and practicals separate. Obstetrics is one paper and gynaecology is other paper and one common practical exam. Orthopedics is included in the surgery first paper and practicals also along with surgery. All others have two theory papers and one practicals each.

Placement Experience :

Since it is medical profession there are not such placement things. After completing the course almost all students are interested in taking Post graduation. After completing the 4 and a half year course we have to do a one year house surgeoncy. A stipend of 25000 per month is there for this period.

College Events :

1 Onam - National festival of Kerala. As in any college in Kerala we also celebrate onam. 2 Christmas- It also spread unity among the students. 3 College Art's festival- Though it's a professional college we gave much importance to extra curricular activities It is Knowns as EUPHORIA. 4 College sports- Health is wealth. So sports is also a integral part of medical education. 5 Union day- After each year election there will be a Grant inauguration of the union Exhibitions.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Each year 25000 Rs ( total of 1 lac 25000 Rs). Considering the fees of private medical colleges of the state( 6 lac to 13 lac per year) It is very very cheap and feasible for poor students. If hostel services needed for one year around 500 Rs for rent and monthly fees for food and establishment which will be calculated on the basis of the expenditure. It will be around 2500 Rs.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The government provides E grantz for socially and economically backward students. I availed e grantz and i get the fees back by this scheme ( not hostel fees). Scholarship for good scholastic performance also given by each departments and other organizations.

Campus Life :

Inter batch extra curricular activities are frequently conducted. The Art's festival-named EUPHORIA is a stage of excellence. College have a Cricket and football stadium, volleyball court, basketball court tennis court, shuttle court. Best selected from these events are sent to University level meets ( Intermedicos).

Hostel Facilities :

If hostel services needed for one year around 500 Rs for rent and monthly fees for food and establishment which will be calculated on the basis of the expenditure. It will be around 2500 Rs. Facilities are average. Not air-conditioned and have no wifi facility.

Alumni/Alumna :

Very active alumi association is there. Previous students from decades are still part of it. They contribute great to the development of the college. The gather funds for renovation of college, giving scholarships etc. This is a ragging free college. Senior students are very well helpful for juniors both in academics and extra curricular activities.

Admission :

After completing my plus two studies in biology science category I wrote the KEAM entrance test. But the rank was not favourable. So I went for repeating course for one year at Brilliant study centre Pala and wrote the exam again and secured a rank of 418 and got admission at my college. Now the KEAM entrance is replaced by NEET

Faculty :

Best faculties a medical college should have Government Medical College Trivandrum is an institution of excellence. It has world class teachers cum doctors. Non teaching staffs ,lab technicians etc are also very student friendly. Since it is a Government settings the patients who come for treatment are als very helpful for the students to have practical knowledge.

MBBS is more difficult than the entrance, the only relaxation during the exam time is lack of competition. But the CBME curriculum is difficult , which make students more stressful . There is lot to study and also equally lot of activities like record submission, exam are difficult because 50%mark is necessary for to pass the exam and the university exam is conducted at the end of year ,the eligibility of writing exam is determined by internal exams and other works
