Homely and Protected

Remarks :

Remarks: Essentially every Indian Parent's Dream College. Why? The following reasons: Basically a confinement area for college students where the only time you can leave the college without skipping classes is during the 6 PM - 9:30 PM time bracket, which much lesser for girls at 6 PM to 7:30 PM. No Non Vegetarian food entertained. Never. No short Dresses or any inappropriate dressing allowed for either genders. Strict attendance rules and substance/drinking/smoking control. Positive Remarks: All in all makes sense if you want your academics to be great and it serves the purpose. The faculty is good.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The Course Curriculum is slow but steady, giving enough time for slower students to catch on and sharper students to further improve. The exam structure is student friendly but can use better question patterns. The curriculum is relevant to the greater extent and allows personal and professional growth.

Placement Experience :

I do not have sufficient knowledge on 'Placements' as such, but I think it's safe to say that it is above average, considering it's recent yet promising reputation.

College Events :

Every Wednesday the college hold an event that is aimed at promoting the overall growth of it's students through college level extra curricular events and competitions such as literary, cultural and performing art related activities. Another annual event called 'Archventure' hosted by our college with other colleges participating as well, allows for the students to fully explore their potentials in extra curricular and semi academic events that are aimed at enriching the talents of the students.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

First Year Fees: Semester 1 - 10: INR 50000 for College Tuition Fee INR 50000 for Hostel Fees (non opt-out) This is the pattern for the student college fees and will come up to a minimum of INR 10 Lakh for the entire course. The average individual student expenditure is anywhere between INR 100000 to INR 150000 per annum on stationaries and other expenses.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

NO. but since college dunia doesn't know where to put in a word limiter in their form filling website, I had to type this sentence out instead of a single word answer.

Campus Life :

Campus life is a strong word for Gateway since your life mostly revolves within the confines of your classrooms or studios from 8:55 sharp in the morning to a minimum of 6 PM which may be extended. No student is allowed to enter the college premises after an exact 8:55 PM which, in the unfortunate situation of a student who might've woken up late might affect his attendance and his chances at having a breakfast. No student is allowed to exit the college premises without written, time stamped and signed letters from the lecturers during the class hours or even the break hours. A strict attendance requirement of 75% per semester (which comes close to 3-4 classes permissible to be missed per subject) entertains no absenteeism and threatens year loss in case not obeyed diligently. No sports are actively encouraged.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel fee is INR 50000 per semester. Accomodation in the college is strictly compulsory for all students regardless of whether their homes are in another state or a few feet from the college. The hostel building is fairly well maintained and is comfortable for staying. The students will be provided with Air Conditioning in their rooms during the summer but will not avail hot water facility for bathing during this time and vice versa during the winter. The mess food is hygienic but rarely appetizing and could use better management and cooks.

Alumni/Alumna :

(There is no ragging as such) BUT The senior students expect all juniors to address them as Sir/Ma'am on every occasion except for when in front of the Lecturers/ Parents. I haven't met any Alumni from the college as of yet. Most senior students are helpful, some just seek respect and attention without reason but none are disruptive towards academics so it doesn't really matter but has to be mentioned to any student who may be bothered by said interaction.

Admission :

The college has made staying in the college provided hostel as compulsory and has a strict curfew for Girls at 7:30 PM and for Boys at 9:30 PM. While searching for colleges, through word of mouth I heard of the college and on reaching the college campus for admission procedures, I submitted by documents : Tenth and Twelfth marks card, my NATA score card, my ID Proof and other related documents.

Faculty :

The faculty of the college are knowledgeable and have the capacity to guide each student while maintaining a friendly relation with the students. There is no room for favoritism or bias in terms of academic or other areas of interaction. The non teaching faculty are well mannered and helpful as well.

Overall, GCAD is one of the best colleges for architecture. Although, there is a lot of strictness and rules and regulations in the college so only if you can abide to the strictness and rules, only then take admission.

Remarks:

The best thing about the college is that study is prioritised over everything and due to the highly experienced teachers learning is made in a fun way rather than in a boring way. Teachers always try to make studies a fun part of the college and not a burden to them.
