Good College

Remarks :

They provide very good lab for Microbiology and biochemistry students, one of the best and biggest under the University of Calicut. The negative remarks about the college is the toilet facilities which is very dirty and is not cleaned daily (or even weekly).

Course Curriculum Overview :

The curriculum for Microbiology is updated this year. More topics are added to the syllabus and made it more complex. Semester exam system, but fail to conduct exam on time for every exams they conduct.

Placement Experience :

As I know, they don’t provide campus placements or internships for Microbiology. They allowed us to go for training sessions in all semesters. Some students from other departments such as tourism and MCJ are getting placements.

College Events :

They come with a handful of events and programs for the students. The main event is the Pazhassi Fest. There are also many events like Onam celebration, Christmas, holy, mass fest ( conducted by MCJ department best event under a department)

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The University is regulated the fee structure of all the college under the University. So every college have the same fee. In our college they allow deductions for the students who have financial problems.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

There are many scholarships under the central and state government. Post metric scholarship is one of the good scholarship that most most are opted and applied for. Loan facility is offered by the college, but fee deduction as a financial support for the required students.

Campus Life :

There are many extracurricular activities in sports, and arts. Football, basketbal, volleybal, cricket, kabaddi, martial arts, and other athletic items are well practiced. Arts fest give the students the opportunity to participate in programs, if they did well they can participate on high level under the name and support of the college.

Alumni/Alumna :

Last year they conducted a alumni meet for the works of the college’s new playground and other new facilities. The senior students are well supporting the juniors in academics and in other programs too.

Admission :

First applied for post graduation program under the University of Calicut and preferred colleges are selected. Through their process called single window college for students are approved based on the rankings.

Faculty :

They are well educated, but most of them are not completed their Phd work. Still they are very interested to clear our doubts on and off topics. From lab assistant to head of the department are very supportive in every occasion.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My decision to choose MSc mathematics at Farook College is because of the systematic curriculum they are to be provided. It is quite useful for getting a high-quality of education. They prepared real-world applications. I suggest the curriculum should be prepared according to the preferences of students. The exams ae semester-wise.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I am very interested in a teaching career especially teaching mathematics, so a teacher should understand the subject matter in depth, I chose to select MSc maths after completing my bachelor's degree. We have numerical analysis, cryptography, computer programming, and boolean algebra as papers of applied mathematics, we can find its applications in computer coding, data analysis, engineering, etc. We can be a data analyst after completing MSc maths, after studing a six-month data analysis course. The curriculum should be improved by giving a space for data analysis papers in one of the semesters. The frequency and timing of exams are well scheduled, the course is not surely an easy one but can be cracked by little effort.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Our batch was in Covid lag batch. So the course curriculum was highly rushed. We weren't able to cover aspects which would have real world applications. The last semester research project was fine but still more hands on experience and more research oriented approach could've been taken .

Course Curriculum Overview:

I am a graduate in biotechnology so for me genomic science was ideal as I was interested in it. There could be more experiments in the practical sessions and more placement opportunities. As of now there are no placements. Also the department could bring in some international and national conferences too.

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are very high. We get a minimum package of 6.5 lakhs per annum and more. The top end companies like EY , Deloitte, Tcs , federal bank, IBM, Tetrapark etc.. are available for us.

Placement Experience:

There are departments with placements and university has got a placement cell. There are also various career guidance classes, Innovation and entrepreneurship development centre(IEDC) to support students. But my course is more of a research oriented and as such I can apply for phd opportunities myself. The faculties will help in getting internships, recommendations and journal publications as long as long as we are interested.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Talking about the course, as it is a pg course the main thing is the effort we put in this subject. The teachers has a limit and it is always the effort we put from our side to complete the course. Frankly speaking, the course is a tough one. Syllabus is so long that many things are there to study.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for the placement in their final year of the course. We have BS-MS, MSc, IPhD and PhD currently. Students from BS-MS are more likely to be placed. Though placement is less as students mostly go for research after masters. We have a placement cell that notifies about the opportunities in industries and academia. As my plans are to pursue a PhD after getting this degree so I never got interested in placement opportunity.
