The cutoff for IISER aptitude test does not remain constant. It changes every year.

Its difficulty is of JEE Mains level, with a few JEE Advanced level questions.

The results are declared within 2 days from the test. If selected, your name and the allotted IISER will be listed. They do not display the cutoff or candidate score/percentile.

Attempt the questions that you are sure of. Try to avoid negative marking as much as possible. Though the Bio section is simple, do not guess the answers. Some of my friends attempted less than 5 Bio questions and still qualified. I am not aware of the qualifying JEE Advanced rank.

IISERs don’t declare cutoff. They also don’t reveal individual marks. Students only get to know whether they are selected or not. So, it’s difficult to predict IISER cutoff.

Below are the estimated cutoffs.

  • IISER Pune & Kolkata - 110/180 (General category), 98/180 (SC Category)
  • Other IISERs - 70/180 (General Category), 57/180 (SC category)

The video below will help you further with IISER Admission cutoff

For the JEE Advanced Channel, students need to secure a rank within 15000 in the common rank list (general category).

There is no fixed cut-off to secure a seat in IISER as it varies every year. IISER Result 2021 is out, however, the institute does not releases any cut off list for selection. You will be directly notified whether you are selected or not.

  • Last year, students scoring around 96/180 were allotted seats in the 1st round and further 88-89 in 2nd round.
  • To secure a seat in any of IISER, you must score 83-85 but the level of difficulty can be unpredictable. The questions keep on changing along with the pattern of the exam.
  • Seeing the cut-off trends of the previous 3 years, a score above 105 will be enough to secure you a seat in 1st round itself.
  • Try to avoid negatives in the exam, though you attempt less but always try to be accurate while answering.

If you are applying through JEE Advanced, you must have secured a rank within 15000 to be eligible for the IISER admission process. However, it is not definite and can vary as per the level of the exam

IISER does not release any marks or cut-offs. So, it is impossible to accurately predict the scores at which your chances of admission in any IISER branch can elevate. It just releases a list of selected candidates for counselling. The results are usually out within two days of the test.

Score: The marks required to secure a seat in IISER also differ year-to-year. The reason being the varying difficulty level of the exam. According to the experience of the exam-givers, for the general category students, the minimum marks required are:

  • For IISER Pune, the safe score will be 110+/180.
  • For IISER (Others), the safe score will be 70+/180.

Different Section:

  • For scoring such marks in the exam, the target should be to attempt a minimum of 35 sure-shot questions out of 60. The biology part might sound scary, but it is for everyone.
  • If you didn’t have Biology in your degree, do not worry. This is the case for most of the students, so the competition level is neutralized. But if you prepare some of the topics from Biology, you will have an advantage.

Books: The level of exam is on par with JEE Mains. NCERT is the best book to clear concepts and strengthen basics. Apart from this, solving the past year's question papers is also very important.

For the second part, to hold your seat in IISER through JEE Advance, you need a rank that is under 10000 (for general category students).
