NIT's placement rates can vary depending on the specific campus (e.g., Warangal, Trichy, or Surathkal). IIEST Shibpur tends to provide better placements compared to some NIT branches.
IIEST, Shibpur would be an excellent choice for mechanical engineering study, to sum up. With its well-established reputation for ages, qualified teachers, job prospects, and a well-equipped campus. It fosters an environment that is favorable for both academic and personal development.
IIEST Shibpur CSE department is one of the oldest and most established departments in the country.
IIEST Shibpur is one of the top engineering institutes in West Bengal, along with IIT Kharagpur, NIT Durgapur, and Jadavpur University. Its placement record is on par with the top NITs, making it a popular choice among engineering students.
Based on the assumption that you are enquiring about the UG-level courses. The better between NIT Durgapur and IIEST Shibpur depends on what your graduation objectives are. IIEST Shibpur offers integrated MTech for engineering streams. So, first, be clear if you want to pursue MTech from an institute that does not have a record of producing post-grads like IITs or other universities abroad.
Comparison:
In academics, there is not much difference between JU CS and BESU CS.
In fact in the present scenario, JU CS has better placement statisticsas compared to BESU CS.For this reason, sometimes BESU CS/IT graduates join IITs after the completion of their course and often end up in the same firms their fellow JU mates are working in for 2 years.
BESU got updated to the status of IIEST quite recently. It will take some time for the institute to improve its infrastructure and academics. Being an institute of national importance, the institute is attracting good facilities and campus recruits.
The bottom line is if you are sure that you want to pursue integrated MTech, IIEST CS is not a bad option. Be it JU or BESU, the institute does not matter that much. If you are hard-working, you will excel.
The cutoff scores for admission to the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur, through JEE Main varies each year and depends on several factors, including the number of applicants, the difficulty level of the exam, and the availability of seats in each program.
However, based on previous year trends, to get admission to IIEST Shibpur, you would need to score a rank under 10,000 (approximately) in the JEE Main exam.
It's important to note that the cutoff score for each program offered at IIEST Shibpur is different, and you will need to check the official website of the institute for the specific cutoff score for the program you are interested in.
Additionally, meeting the cutoff score is only one of the eligibility criteria for admission to IIEST Shibpur. The institute considers other factors such as the candidate's academic performance, the number of applicants for a program, and the reservation policies, among others, for final admission decisions.
IIEST Shibpur offers a good infrastructure to its students. Discussed below are various facilities available at the campus.
Air Conditioning: It is as per the departments to whom they supply air-conditioners. Some possess ACs in classrooms, some in labs while some in offices. This varies with the department. None of these is provided in the first year.
Sports:
Culture: The student culture is about to change as IIEST will take students from JEE Main or even Advance. Quite some time ago, the school always had a good share of other state students which was considered quite large for a government institute.
Campus: The campus is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in India and there are tons to explore. Seeing everything here needs at least a minimum of 2 years.
Flooding: The place gets regular rainfall due to The Botanical gardens. Yet, flooding is not a problem, usually.
These are the facilities that you can expect at IIEST Shibpur. Hope it was helpful.
IIEST Shibpur and Jadavpur University both are quite reputed universities. Over the past few years, the former has improved a lot too. However, choosing JU for your CSE degree will be better. Also, you should note that IIEST offers integrated M.Tech courses.
Although IIEST Shibpur is quite reputed, its placement record is not comparable to that of JU. In the recent placement drive at JU, the placement average was 100%. The average CTC offered at the campus was 19 LPA. Apart from the placement, there are also great research opportunities at JU.
The transformation of IIEST from BESU, has been quite effective. With time, IIEST can even become better than JU. However, as of now, JU is the better alternative.
One of my elder brothers has completed his B.E degree in Aerospace from BESU, Shibpur.
As per him, Aerospace Engineering is the youngest Department and lacks of proper infrastructure. He also mentioned the poor planning, and except for some professors, other teachers do not have even the knowledge about what they are teaching. However, professors with proper subject knowledge are just awesome; rather, they are the coolest professors in this institute.
Additionally, the positive thing about this institute is that all the professors have a logical mindset. They are always prepared to do any sort of experimentation related to the course. They are always ready to implement any practicable criticism that may approach their way to research.
Moreover, the term “worthwhile” is much related to campus recruitment. Considering this, my elder brother honestly told me that if a student wants to engage with Aerospace Engineering, it is better than going for a higher study. This is so because the institute does not provide any job opportunity after completing M.Tech.
Aerospace Engineering is a new stream in India and if you wants to establish in this field, then it is better to try foreign universities. It is because India still not have a good infrastructure for the development of its own aerospace industry. Besides, the private organisations that offer a job in India are comparatively very low than Russia, Germany and France. The only sole organisation is Hindustan Aeronautics, and it does not have any competitors.
Thus, the student must choose to study Aerospace Engineering very wisely, and they must analyse future job perspectives first.
There are several professors in IIEST, Shibpur who are good. One of my friends studies in the CST department of IIEST. I can name some of the best professors in the department.
Therefore, the IIEST has many good professors other than these. They are all professional and skilled in their respective subjects and you will learn a lot from them.
One of my seniors was a resident of Bhopal and he was a student of IIEST Shibpur. These are the experiences he had in the institute.
Overall, my senior had an enjoyable experience in the institute and he faced no prejudice from the Bengali students.
