In my opinion, CSE in IIT Hyderabad is the best option amongst the aforementioned institutes. EEE in BITS Pilani is not a good option unless you are interested in core Electronics. This is because the future is CS-oriented and everyone is out there trying to secure lucrative job opportunities in the same. I wouldn’t suggest you target a branch change from EEE to CS in Pilani as for that you will require a very high CGPA as high as 9.7 which is very very tough to get.
Speaking of BITS Goa, it is known for its amazing new coding culture and no compulsory attendance policy. However, nothing can match the brand value of IIT.
IIT Hyderabad focuses primarily on AI and ML which is very beneficial for your future.
Thus it can be concluded that IIT Hyderabad is a better option for you.
IIT Mandi is a comparatively better option than IIT Dhanbad. IIT Mandi offers effective classes with good college facilities and an eco-friendly atmosphere away from the rush of the city.
Most significantly, you can easily change the branch after fulfilling the required criteria. IIT Mandi provides good hostel facilities and a resourceful campus to the students, which will help them study in comfort.
IIT Dhanbad will stress you with work and exams and is not good for your research work, but they offer commentable extracurricular activities to the students. If you are highly passionate about your studies and looking for a career in security, then you can definitely opt for IIT Mandi.
There is very little chance to get your branch upgraded to any department. Even if you manage to score more than 80% then also you will not be able to get a seat in your desired branch as they might show there is no vacancy in that branch.
To get your branch upgraded from EEE you either need to have very good connections in GGSIPU or you need to lend some extra money to the college to upgrade your branch. Without which you won't have any chances to upgrade even if your score is more than 80% marks in the first semester.
IIT BHU and BITS Pilani are two highly reputed institutions for engineering studies in India.
IIT BHU would be a better option over BITS Pilani because of these reasons:
Here are the important comparisons between IIT BHU and BITS Pilani:

IIT BHU Electrical |
BITS PILANI EEE |

Accenture Strategy and Consulting, Alphagrep, Coinswitch, Fischer Jordan, etc. |
*(for SC/ST/PwD students, and others with family income <= 1 LPA, the tuition fee is 0. The tuition is exempted by 2/3rd for students with family income <=5 lakh and > 1 lakh).
Because of all the reasons listed above, I would suggest you opt for Electrical at IIT BHU over EEE at BITS Pilani.
Among these two courses and colleges, you should probably choose EEE at NITK. Having to know some people studying in both these institutes, I can say that the infrastructure and facilities provided at NIT Goa are very poor, it is also below NITK in terms of rankings.
Categories | EEE at NIT Surathkal |
Course Fee | 5.40 lakh |
Highest CTC | 14-15 LPA |
Average CTC | 8-9 LPA |
Recruiting Companies | Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, nVidia, Western Digital, etc. |
Hence, choosing EEE at NITK will be a better option as the faculty, infrastructure, and placements of this college is great and there is also a very good scope of higher studies.
Institute-wise, BITS Pilani is much better than IIT Mandi. But branch-wise, both CSE and EEE are equally good with CSE at a slighter advantage.
From this, we can infer that BITS Pilani EEE is a better choice. The placement scenario of both the branches is the same and that’s when the institute's credibility comes into play.
Many top firms recruit only from old IITs and BITS Pilani and new IITs are not even considered by these top companies. There is a stark contrast between placement scenarios of old and new IITs in terms of the package and roles offered.
I feel students are initially unaware of their actual interests and so it’s better to target a better college than a better branch. BITS Pilani EE fulfills all the criteria and offers a plethora of placement options that might not be available in new IITs like IIT Mandi.
As far as the IIT tag is concerned, the increasing number of new IITs has diluted its brand value. The IIT tag brand value rests with the old IITs only and the new IITs are not that respected. Companies prefer students from institutes like BITS Pilani or IIIT Hyderabad rather than new IITs.
After doing some research online, I would suggest not to go for IEM at Ramaiah, until and unless you are extremely interested in studying that particular subject. Since it will not pay you anything and you will eventually wind up in the same category of mass placement at one of the service-based companies.
Double-check the topics you will be studying. EEE is usually less exposed than IEM, yet EEE is regarded as the most complex branch to be studied.
The majority of EEE / ECE / other branches receive job offers from Infosys, HCL, Accenture, or Tech Mahindra.
Parameters | IEM at Ms. Ramaiah | EEE at Dayanand Sagar College of Engineering |
Tuition Fees | INR 3.47 lakh | INR 10 lakh |
Placement Percentage | 95% | 70% |
Highest Package | 13 LPA | 15 LPA |
Average Package | 7.6 LPA | INR 8 LPA |
So, what is the point of learning core Electronics if all you have to do at the conclusion of your engineering degree is code? If you want to build a career, think seriously about the branch you select. Regardless of the institution you attend, I believe EEE is far superior to IEM. Pursue EEE only if you are truly passionate about the subject.
You are comparing two different branches; Computer (CSE) and Electrical (EEE). If you are naturally inclined towards a particular branch, then you should choose it no matter the institute. If you are not sure about the branch then let me share some facts I got to know while researching about the institutes.
The following table shows a brief insight on relevant facts for both institutes:
Categories |
CS at VNIT |
EEE at NIT Surathkal |
Course Fee |
5.50 lakh |
5.45 lakh |
Highest CTC |
25 LPA |
15 LPA |
Average CTC |
10-12 LPA |
8-9 LPA |
Recruiting Companies |
Accenture, Deloitte, Wipro, Dell, etc. |
TCS, Phillips, Havells, nVidia, etc. |
Now that you have seen the comparison you can choose which one you like based on your needs and expectations. If you want then you can also make your decision based on the placement reports.
IEM Kolkata as a college is just focused on getting marks and secure jobs during campus placements rather than providing quality education to its students to get some knowledge. The students were told to sit in campus placements with UEM students which was considered to be a very dis-organized step taken by the college.
The environment inside the college is very bad and the curriculum for students is worse. My sister studied here and she mentioned how the students are only concerned about getting any kind of job during the campus placement so the institution can maintain their reputation resulting in more admissions in the coming years.

They don't care about improving the knowledge or skills of a student. The rules of the college are really difficult sometimes. Like if you're seen at the library you can be restricted for bunking class. Also the teachers are very rude and the students are scared of them.
These things leave a bad impression on the students about the department and the college too and ruin the name of the college. These problems should be solved immediately and not only in this college, it should be fixed in every college where such things happen.
I have a few friends at NIT Surathkal and based on the conversation I had with them, I will say at NIT Surathkal, ECE is considered to be the toughest branch.
But the scenario at the EEE department of NIT Surathkal is slightly different and its biggest advantage is that it has a relaxed attendance policy, unlike other branches.
The recent placement statistics for the branches are as follows.
