RS
Rohan Seth Posted On : September 18th, 2020
B.E. Aerospace and Aeronautical Engineering, Jain University (2014)

GL Bajaj is ranked at 26 for private engineering by India Today and is known to be a leading academic institution. NIET Greater Noida on the other hand has been ranked at number 1 by Data Quest for best private engineering colleges in India. Both universities offer programs in Business, Engineering, IT, and software.

Specifically for Mechanical engineering, let us have a look at the difference between programs offered by both the colleges:

Course structure:

  • NIET offers a 4 year BTech in Mechanical Engineering program that is affiliated to AKTU- Dr. Abdul Kalam Technological University (UPTU).
  • GL Bajaj offers a more practical based degree that is AICTE approved and has added workshops on subjects like computer-aided engineering as part of its curriculum.

Tuition Fee: The total tuition fee for the Mechanical engineering program at NIET amounts to 4.65 lakh whereas GL Bajaj charges a total amount of 2.20 lakh for the same course.

Eligibility:

  • For admissions to the mechanical engineering program at NIET students are required to get an eligible rank in their UPSEE entrance test with a minimum score of 45% in 12th.
  • Students looking to apply at GL Bajaj can apply by clearing the UPSEE exam which is given first preference for allocation of seats. The rest of the seats will be filled by JEE-Mains qualified candidates.

Placements:

  • NIET offers an 82% placement rate within the mechanical engineering department with an average median salary of 4 LPA.
  • GL Bajaj offers placements with multiple core companies as part of their placement drive with the highest CTC of 30.3 lakhs and the lowest of 4.5 lakhs. Both institutions offer a total of 240 seats for BTech in Mechanical Engineering.

Top Recruiters: Compared to GL Bajaj, NIET oversees a lower number of core companies. It sees companies like TCS, Wipro, Kotak, and Nestle as part of its recruitment drive. GL Bajaj on the other hand has many core companies for the field of mechanical engineering like Capgemini, CDK Global, HCL, Fiserv, and Capital Via.

Should I take admission to NIET for CSE?

PD
Pallavi Dey Posted On : July 13th, 2021
Studied at Delhi University (2019)

If you are planning on working towards your GATE preparation, then the college you are from will not matter much.

  • Most students from the IT or computer science engineering background are able to appear for 90% of company placements.
  • But you will have to maintain a percentage above 60 or 70 at least.
  • Next, if you are a student from ECE or EN, most of these are able to appear for 70% of company placements with the same sort of condition as mentioned above.
  • As far as other branches are concerned, they do not have that many placement opportunities.
  • Most UPTU colleges have placements based in core companies and keeping the stakes in mind, not every individual gets to secure this placement.
  • The reason behind this is the fact that core companies generally recruit less people.

My advice to you would be to study hard in your semester. Ensure that you score well in your internals. All this coupled together will ensure that your percentage is raised and maintained which will eventually help you secure a good job in your future.

How is NIET for engineering?

AM
Ankit Mishra Posted On : June 23rd, 2021
Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communication, NIET (2018)

Noida Institute of Engineering and Technology is a decent college, offering good placement in circuital branches and not so satisfactory placement in others. The points below give a brief overview of the institute to clarify the actual placement scenario, along with some other key highlights.

  • If you are interested in preparing for GATE or CAT, the college does not matter at all and has no role in the preparation. So, you can go to any institute.
  • If you are from branches like Computer Science and Engineering and Information Technology, you will be allowed to sit in 90% of the companies visiting the campus for placement. But, to be eligible for all these companies, you will need an overall score of above 60-70 percent.
  • If you are from other circuital branches like Electronics and Communication Engineering and Electrical Engineering, almost 70% of all the companies will allow you in their recruitment drives. But, a minimum 60-70 percent score is necessary.
  • The other branches in NIET fail to offer decent placements, mostly due to the lack of core companies visiting the campus for placement. This is not the case with NIET only, but also with much better institutes too.

Here are the recent placement statistics for the institute.

Average CTC

3.8 LPA

Highest CTC

11 LPA

Major recruiters

Capgemini, Infosys, HCL, TCS, etc.

Study hard for your internals and semester to maintain a decent overall score. As for placements, you will need to score a certain percentage. Overall, NIET is a good option for students in CSE, IT, and ECE at most. Other than that, placements are not that satisfactory.

Does the pre-programme assignment of NIET have any marks? Does it matter? Are they checked?

RM
Raj Mehra Posted On : July 8th, 2021
Studied at Noida Institute of Engineering and Technology (2020)

It's difficult to say whether it matters or not because it is totally up to the college administration. When your first-year classes begin, they will ask you for the assignment and require you to submit it before the deadline.

However, there are some students who never submit any pre-programmed assignment. So, one thing is clear, that it does not have any grades, and it is only for practice and making students ready for their upcoming exams.

Is NIET Noida good for civil engineering?

MV
Mohit Vardhan Posted On : July 23rd, 2021
B.Tech (Civil Engineering) from Noida Institute of Engineering and Technology (2016)

The Civil Engineering department of NIET Noida is not at all satisfactory, considering most reviews available over the internet. There are several problems that students of Civil Engineering have to face in the institute, some of which are listed below in the following points.

  • Most teachers in the Civil Engineering department are just graduates. They usually don’t have a good knowledge of the subjects in-depth, not even for the one they teach.
  • Some faculties in the institute are currently enrolled in M.Tech programs from other institutes in Rajasthan and have been teaching in the institute’s Civil Engineering department as part-time employees.
  • The management of NIET has no attention towards the placement and other educational and infrastructural aspects of the Civil Engineering department.
  • In the Civil Engineering department, the authority even sends students to fake internships where the students have to pay in return for doing the same. This is done for the greed of fake placement opportunities.
  • The faculty is also non-supportive about the condition of the Civil Engineering department in the institute. Most of them are also indulged in providing coaching in private organizations for GATE and IES.

Civil Engineering at NIET Noida is not a good choice as mentioned in the points above. You should look for better options.
