Which is a better option: EEE at BITS Goa/Hyd or ECE at NIT Delhi?

Studied at BITS Goa (2020)

There are 2 factors involved here. First is the branch and the second is the institute. Speaking course wise ECE and EEE are somewhat similar and offer good career opportunities. You can choose either according to your interest.

NIT Delhi is 2 years younger than BITS Hyderabad campus and 6 years younger than BITS Goa campus. The older the institute offers better opportunities and better known.

So BITS has an edge over NIT Delhi in providing the best opportunities when the institute factor is taken. BITS also has much more recruiters than NIT Delhi. According to the recent placement highlights the average CTC offered at BITS Goa and BITS Hyderabad is around 5 LPA.

Among the two, Mechanical at PEC Chandigarh would be a better choice. PEC being an old and highly recognized institute whereas NIT Delhi is comparatively a newer establishment.

Placement (Winning Institute- PEC Chandigarh)

  • PEC has a progressive atmosphere for core branches like mechanical. The faculties help in placement training and creative experimental works.
  • The top recruiting companies include Alstom, Volvo, Fiat, L&T, Indian Oil, etc.
  • Although ECE is a stream of greater demand as both core Electronics and IT companies recruit ECE graduates. NIT Delhi, being a recently established institute has a lower average CTC offered to its students than Mechanical at PEC Chandigarh.

The table below states the basic overview of the required departments from the two institutes.

Campus

  • PEC Chandigarh has a better campus and infrastructure than NIT Delhi.
  • Co-curricular activities like fests, sports, events, etc. take place on a larger scale in PEC Chandigarh, being a more popular institute.

Can I get any branch in NIT Goa, Jaipur, or Delhi if my JEE Mains rank is 180k (I am in the general category)?

It's nearly impossible to get any branch in any of the colleges mentioned above. The colleges mentioned above are all NITs in particular NIT Goa, NIT Jaipur, and NIT Delhi.

None of the NITs open admission for the rank of around 180k so it would be better if you should prepare well and appear for the exam in the next year or take admission in any private college. There's no chance that any NIT would offer admission for 180k rank.
