The answer to your question is based on the opportunity cost of the different opportunities you already have. Finding a suitable job as a new employee is typically very tough in the construction sector. Even if you want to work for free on a construction site, there are several challenges. The businesses would add you to their payroll, which would make for an excellent learning atmosphere but not a great career one. Therefore, I would suggest joining NICMAR if you're having problems obtaining a job that's decent.
However, if you have a job, I suggest you continue with your job and gather the learnings and later pursue a PGP in management from a better institution.
You can still make a good career for yourself even if you do not have the requisite marks in 10th/12th.
But you should know that 5-7% of companies at NICMAR, consider 60% to 75% criteria for filtering out resumes. This helps them to reduce the number of students for interviewing during the placement process.
However, if you have good scores in graduation and MBA and break the stereotype of the average person with your consistency, reliability, communication skills, and intellect, then 8 out of 10 times your 12th percentage % will not matter.
My friend had scored 55% and was placed just after his second interview. He got through a 6-stage-placement-process of CBRE: a Fortune 500 company.
SurekhaNICMAR has a lot of two-year courses. My brother pursued the Advanced Construction management (PGP-ACM) program at NICMAR. So here's an overview of the same:
In the second year, placements will begin and elective subjects based on real estate and infrastructure will make their appearance. You will have a choice based on the sector chosen. Here you may choose electives that are easy and add value to your degree and resume in turn.
You will also learn how to work with software lab, which includes MS Project, Primavera, Candy, etc. These will be spread over the span of two years. There'll be a lot of fun and learning so relax and learn as you go.
Basically, it has been seen over years that getting a question paper would be difficult as the officials usually take the question paper back once the exam gets over.
If you have applied for NCAT, you will get a mail from the college regarding the call letter for the entire admission process and in that they attach the link for the sample paper. Otherwise doing R.S. Agarwal is the best option for preparation.
Lastly, we can say that do not rely only on sample paper, start practicing and they attach the link for the sample paper so that you get an idea regarding the same.
NICMAR is not a traditional university with traditional courses. Other than engineering, each course contains subjects from a variety of fields. Students at NICMAR are trained to be techno-managers, whereas GATE can place you in an engineering college to pursue an M.Tech, limiting your field to engineering.
If you only want to pursue core engineering aspects and a degree, GATE is the way to go. If you want to broaden your horizons, NICMAR is an excellent choice.
NICMAR also offers decent placement opportunities. In the 2020 placement drive, the average CTC offered was 6 LPA.
Placement for quantitative serving at NICMAR is good. A lot of people get an average package of 6 lakh per annum even though they are fresher. According to the recent placement highlights the highest CTC offered at the institute was 12 LPA. Hence, it is worth it. So, you can definitely choose the course if you want to do quantity serving for most of your career.
Considering all the growth in the infrastructure sector of India, there is a good scope for it and it will go on like this for the next 5-6 years.
QS has been a favorite for almost all the fresh graduates. As it has a better ROI as compared to a full-time two-year course. You should not opt for it as a career just because you like the subject in your engineering syllabus.
It would be better for you to get on a job on-site first. You can work for a year or two and understand the activities that go on around. During this period, you will also understand if you can do a full-time QS job. And then if you are still interested, you can go for it. QS has an unlimited scope with several growing projects in India and abroad so you need not worry about that.
Frankly, NICMAR Pune and NICMAR Hyderabad are incomparable, since they are both somewhat in the same range.
Categories | NICMAR Pune | NICMAR Hyderabad |
Highest CTC | 15 LPA | 16 LPA |
Average CTC | 6.5-8 LPA | 6-7 LPA |
Recruiting Companies | L&T, Suntech, Oberoi Realty, Space Matrix, etc. | Tata, SPCL, CBRE, Synergy, etc. |
Therefore, the only visible point of difference is that the local companies visiting each campus vary on a larger scale. Apparently, that is exactly where the count of companies eventually alters.
My brother recently graduated from NICMAR Hyderabad and here is his insight regarding this. If you look at the return on investment, QSCM is a better course than the two-year full-time course. Yet, there is no guarantee that you will end up with a job.
And this applies to all of the courses. You need to have a good academic score in your previous certificates, a good NICMAR score, and good communication skills.
The course is well defined and structured as per the industry requirements. The placements depend upon your caliber and you get a ton of opportunities according to that. According to the recent placement highlights the highest CTC offered at the institute is 12 LPA. Some of the major recruiting companies at the institute are KPMG, L&T, HDFC, etc.
After the completion of the first year, you can apply for internships for which you need to appear for an interview session alongside a written exam. It is usually based upon Aptitude and English, apart from subjects taught in NICMAR. During this time, you can practice for the final placements.
NICMAR also has a plethora of extracurricular activities to distract one from the flow. It is upon you to manage your time and execute your aim. It is suggested that you prepare thoroughly when you still can.
