Which college is better for general MBA Amity Business School (ABS), Noida or University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun?
My friend from school used to be a student of the UPES Dehradun. The university is known for its core branches as well as its management sector. Both are private universities, however, so the cost of studying can be a little high.
The two universities are very different and it would not be a good idea to draw comparisons between them. The flagship programs Amity and UPES offer are not in any way related which makes comparing them a far cry.
UPES Dehradun would be a good option if you want to study petroleum-related courses however if you are want to pursue a conventional MBA, then Amity Business School, Noida would serve fine. UPES offers MBA with specializations like aviation, business analytics. UPES is a good university for programs that are more based on domains.
This year, the highest package granted to a student of UPES was INR 45 LPA, the average being INR 5.25 LPA. The top recruiters were LTI, Wipro, and Deloitte.
When compared to Manipal University Jaipur is UPES better in terms of placements?
I am strongly against judging a college solely on the basis of placements. Placements should never be the major criteria for evaluating the credibility and worth of an institute. Rather, you should look for the college that has excellent records of international competitions, and which are known to offer better opportunities as a whole for personality development.
If it’s only placements you are concerned about, then please consider joining MUJ as it has a better placement scenario than UPES, and is expected to improve more so.

UPES Dehradun is known in India for its petroleum engineering. If you are passionate about the branch and are getting it, then no doubt go for it. You will not regret your decision ever. However, there are some compelling reasons for choosing MSIT Delhi under certain circumstances.
- UPES Dehradun has a very high fee (close to INR 4 lakhs per year) while MSIT under GGSIPU has a very reasonable fee.
- The CSE and IT programs at MSIT Delhi have good placements and can be considered.
- The coding environment needed is also good.
- The location of Delhi has its own advantages in many ways (placements included).

Both UPES Dehradun and PEC Chandigarh are reputed institutes. I have few friends from both institutes and based on the reviews I got from them, I will say UPES is a better choice.
- The college has got great infrastructure and very experienced and trained faculty members. They also have a very good placement record every year.
- In this college, you will find various kinds of extracurricular activities which will help you in developing your leadership and communication skills.
- This college also has collaborations with international universities and they conduct varieties of students exchange programs.
- The college conducts various workshops and seminars. They also have personality development classes that will train you for placement purposes.
- According to the recent placement trends, the placement average for the institute is 90%. The top recruiters of this college are Accenture, Nestle, L&T, Microsoft, Google, Ashok Leyland, Cairn, and Wipro. In the last placement drive, the highest and average CTC offered at the institute were 45 LPA and 6.5 LPA.

One of my cousins is a recent graduate from Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) and mentions that the department of Civil engineering is among the oldest departments of all. Here are some factors that you should know about it.
- Alongside the newer faculty members, who are both professional and easy-going, the institute also has old faculty members who are well experienced as well. However, at times, they can be quite strict too.
- The present HOD of civil engineering is moreover admirable as well. My cousin states the same because he sat for one of his classes.
- He mentions that the HOD is rather supportive and dynamic. He is always willing to be of help if any student needs it for their further studies.
- Professors of this department keep maintaining their decorum by all means. But, the placement stats of civil engineering has unfortunately not been great in most of the institutes nonetheless.

UPES has a beautiful campus and a great view. BIMTECH on the other hand is at a slight disadvantage due to its location. The weather is extreme and humid in Noida but the campus is great if we compare it with other B-Schools situated in Delhi NCR.
