How do I convert a percentage to CGPA under the rules at Pune University?

KG
Kritika Ghose Posted On : September 28th, 2021
Studied at Savitribai Phule Pune University

One of my friends has completed his graduation in the year 2015 from PU. He was planning to apply for a master’s in a foreign country. While searching for colleges, he observed that different countries had different grading point requirements for India. Also, some universities accept the scores in percentage.

International Credential Evaluation and World Education Services offer evaluation of marks for the many USA and Europe Universities. For applying in Canada and Germany, you don’t need to convert your marks to GPA or CGPA.

After the year 2015, PU had started a new grading system for engineering. It is either in CGPA (out of 10) or Grade point (out of 4). One circular has also been issued by PU in the year 2018 about the conversion of CGPA into percent of marks by the following formula.

% of marks = CGPA * 8.80

This is only valid for the students who received their degrees after 2016. For the students who passed in 2015 and under, you will need to contact your college authorities.

It is difficult to score a distinction at University of Pune. Students need to score more than 66%, in order to get a distinction. In the university examination, students score around 60% of the total marks at max. You need to score more than 70% in your practical and internals to maintain an overall 66%.

Though difficult, getting distinction isn’t impossible. Complete your syllabus thoroughly and solve previous years' questions. To get distinction marks, you need to work on your presentation skills too. Try to improve your handwriting.

How important is attendance in Pune University ?

NK
Nauman Khan Posted On : October 4th, 2021

Attendance is of utmost importance at Pune University and you should have a minimum attendance of 75%. It is obvious that no one maintains a full record, especially in engineering. If you have at least 50% attendance, you will be fine and no one will bother you.

However, you will be told to improve your attendance if it's between 30-50%, and if it's below 30%, then the university will involve your parents and resolve the issue. you can guess, and your parents might have to be involved.

It is important to at least attend some of the lectures as your lab practicals will be evaluated and your absence can cause problems.

You can definitely change after your first year at Pune University. The procedure includes fulfilling some requirements,

  • First of all, you will need a very good aggregate in the first year.
  • You will need NOC from your previous college.
  • You will require your 1st-year marksheet and your class 10th and 12th mark sheets.

It is really a very easy procedure, Many of my friends have also followed these steps and successfully changed from one college to another without much hassle.

How do I clear M3 in engineering at Pune University ?

NS
Naina Singhal Posted On : October 4th, 2021
B.E. Computer Networking & Computer Programming,Savitribai Phule Pune University (2018)

It's easier to clear the online one but theory peaks the level. The easy way for getting a good score is:

  • Begin with the 4th unit i.e. vector differentiation, for the theory exam. Your basic knowledge will be furnished once you complete the 5th unit as well.
  • Prepare by solving at least 6 previous years' papers. It will cover most of the important questions.
  • Focus on the 6th unit by using the same approach. This will guarantee you about 32 marks.

Choose a unit from 1st or 2nd. If formulas are your thing, choose the 1st unit or else go for the 2nd one. Now you’re prepared to get almost 37 marks. Prepare thoroughly and, you might get at least 30 marks in theoretical stuff.

Can I change college in my second year (Pune University) (B.E)?

AD
Akanksha Dubey Posted On : September 22nd, 2021
B.E.Civil MIT, Pune (2016)

One of my cousins graduated from Pune University and here are his insights regarding this.

It is possible to switch to another college under the same university. But it depends on the following factors.

  • You should not have any backlog in the first year.
  • Vacancy in the branch and college you are opting to.

By completing certain official procedures of the respective University and College, you can easily do so. However, you will need to have a good CGPA, i.e above 9. It is possible if you are studying in a non-autonomous or non deemed college. If that branch in that college has seats available then you surely have a chance.

How do I study for LLB exams and get good marks Im in LLB 1st year since 2 years? How do I write papers from Pune University?

SG

Exams are simple to pass, however gaining necessary information is a little tougher. It's the right technique to make your concepts obvious, mentioning sections and focusing on the bare act. Doing the following would be a lot easier method:

  • Classroom lectures are always the most effective.
  • Making running notes entails writing down what you believe is important.
  • Choose a standard reading book (textbook/reference book) for each subject.
  • This is the only book you should read if you want to pass your examinations.
  • An author’s book, often known as a "Commentary," would be beneficial for conceptual clarity as well as legal expertise and terminology.

Presentation is another useful tool. You could present the answer in your own distinct style. Make a clear format for how you'll write your answers. The following is an example of a possible response:

  • A brief introduction (A line or two introducing the answer to the question)
  • The case's/facts questions (if any)
  • Provision of the law (Includes Section, Article, Clause if you know it)
  • The inference made by you (the actual answer that is examined)
  • Jurisprudence (if any)
  • Conclusion

If the issue is for lower marks, your structure can be simplified, but the Section, Article, Clause, and Case law should still be included.

If recalling Sections and other details is tough, focus on the most important ones. When a topic is presented, the rest of the book can be read leisurely with consistent and pertinent references.

What are the rules for giving Grace Marks in Savitribai Phule Pune University for engineering students?

SG
Suhani Gope Posted On : October 4th, 2021
Studied at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) (2016)

According to the rule followed earlier, if you had secured 39 marks out of 100 and passed the rest of the subject. Then the teacher might give you grace marks, however, the marks would not be reflected in your result. It would be shown like 39#.

According to new rules released in 2014, internals carries 30% weightage along with 70% for External. In order to clear your exam, you had to secure 40% marks in both internals and theory papers, that is; 28/70 and 12/30.

If you are short of 1-2 marks in your theory paper, then grace might be given by your teacher but it is compulsory that you pass your internals with 40% marks.
