New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur on October 5, 2023. IIT Jodhpur, one of the eight IITs established in 2008, boasts a sprawling campus spanning 852 acres along the Jodhpur-Nagaur Highway.

IIT Jodhpur actively participates in numerous research and innovation projects, receiving support from various government agencies including the Department of Science and Technology (DST), the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the Department of Atomic Energy, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), the Ministry of Ayush, and the Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor.

IIT Jodhpur has undertaken several ongoing research initiatives, including the Technology Innovation Hub focusing on computer vision, augmented reality, and virtual reality. They are also engaged in projects like the Jodhpur City Knowledge and Innovation Foundation, the Centre for Advanced Security Technology Development in Cyber Physical Systems, the Centre of Excellence on Ayurtech, the Bio-design Centre with support from Bio-nest, and the DRDO-Industry-Academia Centre of Excellence.

The institution emphasized that its academic curriculum is in harmony with the National Education Policy (NEP) of 2020. It provides a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in emerging domains like clean energy, artificial intelligence, bio-engineering, among others.

Furthermore, IIT Jodhpur has established partnerships, including one with AIIMS Jodhpur, to offer distinctive innovation-driven joint degree programs in medical technologies. Additionally, the institution maintains a dedicated social engagement program that fosters collaboration between students and faculty on scientific projects designed to benefit rural and nearby communities.

The Institute highlighted its commitment to nurturing innovation and entrepreneurship abilities through a well-structured incubation program.

Furthermore, students are encouraged to delve into advanced research across interdisciplinary domains, including but not limited to digital humanities, computational social science, quantum information and computation, space science and technology, as well as robotics and mobility.

IIT Jodhpur has established a notable reputation over the last 15 years, marked by its interdisciplinary and innovation-focused curriculum and robust research initiatives, IIT Jodhpur stated.
