PM Modi Inaugurated Two Complexes at IIT Delhi on February 21; Read More Here

New Delhi: Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi inaugurated the newly constructed Academic Complex East and Academic Complex West at the Hauz Khas campus of IIT Delhi on February 21, 2024, in a virtual session.

The inauguration event witnessed Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture, Meenakshi Lekhi and scientists from various organizations, Building and Works Committee, faculty, BoG members, students, faculty members and staff of IIT Delhi.

This construction project for research and academic purposes is the largest project in the history of IIT Delhi. The total cost to build two multi-storey complexes is INR 260 Crores, with an area of more than 60,000 meters.

Speaking on this occasion, Director of IIT Delhi, Rangan Banerjee, said “The two academic complexes will strengthen the existing research and academic facilities on the campus. The new research facilities in these blocks will help us to reach new heights.”

The East and West complex can take over more than 20 academic units of the Institute that include School of Public Policy, Department of Textile and Fibre, School of AI, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Design, Department of Energy Science and Engineering, Department of Automotive Research and Tribology, Centre of Execellence on Cyber Security, Central Workshop, School of Inter-disciplinary Research, and Central Research Facilities.

In addition, there are 200 faculty offices, 10 committee rooms, 13 conference rooms, as well as departmental libraries and faculty lounges spread over the two academic complexes.
